A global infrastructure firm is seeking a Junior Mechanical Designer Technician in São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro. The role involves preparing designs for waterfront facilities, hydraulic modelling, and crafting design documents. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and 2-6 years of relevant experience, particularly in 3D piping design. Proficiency with Plant 3D or equivalent software is essential. Strong communication skills in English are required, with Spanish being a plus.

We are actively looking for a Junior level, MechanicalDesigner Technician to join our Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo office. As part of the Mechanical Group, the Mechanical Engineer Designer will have experience with solid bulk conveyance systems, hydraulic modelling and design of liquid bulk transmission systems, as well as utility (water / sewer / stormwater) systems. Experience in industrial complex and / or marine terminals are a plus.

Duties and responsibilities :

  • To prepare a variety of designs from Agri bulk material, and mining bulk in Port Terminals or industrial plants
  • To prepare a variety of designs in waterfront facilities such as marinas, container terminals, marine oil terminals and pump stations and utilities (firefighting / water / sewer / stormwater) systems projects
  • To perform hydraulic modelling and analysis of liquid bulk transmission systems and utility (water / sewer / stormwater) systems
  • Preparing design documents (plans and specifications) with an emphasis on utility service design
  • To design other projects such as piping to support in other projects such as liquid bulk terminal and utilities which will include piping design using either Plant 3D or similar software
  • To generate proposals and develop fee estimates for PS&E packages
  • To assist with condition assessment inspections for terminals equipment and utilities infrastructure

Qualifications :
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (Desirable)
  • 2-6 years of experience in mechanical design related to bulk material handling
  • Experience in 3D piping design required
  • Plant 3D or equivalent (PDMS, PDS, etc.) experience required
  • Design experience in industrial complex and / or marine terminals is a plus
  • General understanding of process design, process flow diagram development, and piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) development
  • Acknowledgement in developing equipment specification, calculation, data sheets, drawings reviews and other documents related to mechanical design
  • Some planning and task management skills
  • Complete piping and pipelines stress analysis using CAESAR is a plus
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English. Spanish is an advantage
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
Working conditions :

Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
