Job summary

MacGregor in Rio de Janeiro is seeking a Service Engineer with strong mechanical and hydraulic competence to perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance on cranes and winches.

Travel to client sites worldwide is required; office in Rio de Janeiro area; living within reach is essential. Candidates should have 7+ years of relevant experience, knowledge of drawings, and good English.

Qualifications

• Technical education at Bachelor’s or Technical College level in Mechanical or Hydraulic.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar position.
• Experience with hydraulic and mechanical drawings.
• Previous experience with winches, cranes, steering gear is a must.
• Good English language - both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical and hydraulic systems.
• Advanced maintenance on hydraulic and mechanical, basic electrical and automation and maintenance of equipment.
• Supervise and perform service activities such as refurbishment, upgrades, inspections, preventative maintenance and corrective actions.
• Stay up to date with relevant developments, routines, processes and news.
• Provide information and write reports as required.
• Support sales activities such as follow-up on leads and quotes while at site, as agreed with sales responsible.
• Follow all site safety rules, agreed working practices and environmental requirements.
• Comply with all relevant safety and quality requirements according to MacGregor.

The purpose of this role is to execute service, repair and maintenance work, such as diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair of advanced hydraulic and mechanical equipment on the MacGregor product range, mostly cranes and winches.

We are looking for a candidate with previous experience within the offshore, ship, or rig equipment sector working with products such as winches, cranes and steering gears, but not limited to. Your main discipline is mechanical and hydraulic, in addition you have basic knowledge of electrical or/and automation components. As a person you are customer-oriented, cooperative, and have excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively share information within the team.

This is a position that requires that you travel to client sites, vessels or at shipyards worldwide. Our clients are primarily domestic but also spread across the globe, i.e. Europe, the US, China, Australia, Singapore, and beyond. Therefore, flexibility and a strong willingness to travel is essential. Our office and workshop is located in the Rio de Janeiro area where you might be assigned to local work if needed, therefore it is essential that you live within reach.

• Diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical and hydraulic systems
• Advanced maintenance on hydraulic and mechanical, basic electrical and automation and maintenance of equipment

Reporting directly to the Operations Superintendent. The position will be based in MacGregor’s office in Rio de Janeiro, (Niterói / São Gonçalo).

What you’ll need to succeed

• Technical education at Bachelors or Technical College level within Mechanical or Hydraulic. Relevant experience may compensate for lack of education
• Minimum 7 years of experience from similar position
• Experience with hydraulic and mechanical drawings
• Previous experience with winches, cranes, steering gear is a must
• Basic knowledge in both automation and/or electrical fields is a valuable asset
• Proven experience working with computer systems professionally
• Good English language - both verbal and written
