POSITION SUMMARY
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager plays a critical role in ensuring that our workplace complies with health and safety regulations, minimizes environmental impact, and creates a safe working environment for employees
RESPONSIBILITIES
Create, implement, and manage policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as Vertiv company policies, which will exceed regulatory compliance, regarding health, safety, and environmental standards.
Understand the implementation of LIFE/SIF (Life-altering Injury and Fatality Exposure) programs.
Work closely with various departments to integrate EHS considerations into business processes. Communicate EHS policies and initiatives to employees, management, and external stakeholders
Be a member of the plant team and align with the Vertiv Operating System for the plant cadence.
Participate as a member of the Vertiv North America EHS leadership team, including conducting audits at other sites and contributing to the development of policies and practices across North America.
Identify potential hazards and risks in the workplace. Work with supervisors and front-line employees to develop strategies to mitigate risks, prevent accidents, and promote a culture of safety.
Conduct training sessions and workshops for employees to raise awareness about safety protocols, emergency procedures, and environmental practices.
Work with the safety committee to find opportunities for improving employee engagement in near miss, good catch reporting and other proactive safety efforts.
Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, or near-misses. Develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence and ensure a prompt and effective response to emergencies.
Ensure the organization complies with all relevant regulations and standards. Prepare reports, maintain records, and submit documentation to regulatory agencies as required.
Oversee environmental programs, including waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives. Implement strategies to reduce the organization's environmental impact.
QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant experience in EHS management, preferably in the specific industry. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices is crucial.
A bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
Desired master’s degree
Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations related to health, safety, and environmental compliance is essential. Knowledge of risk assessment, incident investigation, emergency response, and safety training methodologies is also important.
Ability to assess risks, analyze data, and develop strategies to improve safety and environmental performance.
Ability to lead and motivate teams, drive change, and influence others to prioritize safety and environmental concerns.
Quick decision-making skills to address immediate concerns and develop long-term solutions for EHS issues.
Strong communication skills to articulate policies, train employees, and interact with regulatory agencies.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
The role is primarily based in a manufacturing facility, requiring regular site visits and interaction with production teams.
Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols.
The role involves extended periods of sitting in front of a computer.
Occasional standing or walking may be required during meetings, presentations, or site visits.
TIME TRAVEL REQUIRED
