NOTICE : Latam Environmental Science is passing through a transformation process that is generating good opportunities to leverage even more the results by becoming an independent company (ceasing to be part of Bayer).

In this new set-up, Environmental Science would be able to accelerate its innovation engine, bringing new chemistries, knowledge and stewardship, as well as digital and data-enabled solutions to our customers.

Your Mission Will Be To:

Lead counsel in providing strategic, effective, timely, accurate, professional, practical and relevant legal support to the management, business and functions in the LATAM countries, in the form of leading legal support to key functions such as Commercial, Public Affairs and Market Access, Regulatory, Innovation, Marketing; including through legal opinions, contracts and other documentation (external letter, guideline, internal process, policy, etc.), review, advice to support them to achieve their objectives while ensuring legal compliance and handling government investigations and inquiries / legal formalities / litigations.

The lead counsel reports to the General Counsel Envirnmental Science for the conduct of all its activities :

• Lead counsel for the projects of the various functions
• Lead / entry level counsel for local legal matters, sharing experience, providing legal reviews and guidance
• Lead / conduct complex contracts drafting and negotiation and the general process for standard contracts
• Select and actively manage outside counsels for litigations and local legal formalities where required
• Lead counsel for corporate law, governance and compliance matters of the region
• Represent the company on legal matters in trade associations and external organizations in LATAM countries

Are You Ready For The Position?

• LL.M.
• or equivalent advanced Law degree;
• Passed the BAR examination and is admitted to practice as an attorney in Brazil;
• Previous experience deadling with regulated areas, for example lifescience market;
• Previous legal experience in big and / or international law firm in Brazil and / or in-house legal department of major multinational company in the LATAM region;
• In-depth knowledge of the relevant law fields.
• Experienced with managing outside counsels work;
• Fluency in Portuguese and Spanish, both written and oral, proven by prolonged working experience with such languages.
• Advanced / Fluent English;
• Diligent, thorough, responsible and result-oriented;
• Very strong analytical, research skills.
• Strong contract data base management skills;
• Instills trust and a good team player, with advanced ability to be seen by clients and colleagues as a trusted resource and business partner, building effective collaborations;
• Ability to proactively solve problems / address management concerns;
• Strong leadership, with pro-active and constructive communication of requirements and management decisions to allow efficient progress in the area of responsibility (such as compliance or contract process matters);
• Think and communicate effectively in an international / cross cultural / cross border environment.
• Excellent presentation (e.g. for doing trainings), negotiation and active listening skills;
• Good comprehension of business strategies and administration, as well as financial terms;
• In-depth crisis management skills;
