Avenue Code seeks a Lead Full-Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer to drive the technical evolution of a global enterprise platform. You will lead architecture, feature development, and modernization of high-throughput applications powering a circular economy and electronics recycling ecosystem.

Based in Brazil, you’ll mentor cross-functional teams, set engineering standards, and deliver resilient systems using Rails 6/7, REST, and cloud services.

We are seeking a Lead Full-Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer to drive the technical evolution of a global enterprise platform for one of the world’s most admired consumer technology innovators!

In this role, you will lead the architecture, feature development, and modernization of high-throughput web applications powering a global circular economy and electronic recyclables ecosystem, overseeing critical workflows across asset inventory, scheduling, global transportation, and sustainable processing. Responsibilities

• Architect & Build: Lead the design, coding, testing, and evolution of scalable, high-performance web applications and services using Ruby on Rails (6/7) and modern engineering practices.
• Enterprise Integrations: Design and implement robust, secure API integrations with internal services and third-party global partners utilizing REST, RPC, ProtoBuf, JSON, and XML.
• Performance & Reliability: Identify performance bottlenecks, optimize database queries, enhance observability, and address system capacity and scalability limits.
• Polyglot & Cloud Collaboration: Collaborate across distributed microservices environments incorporating Go (Golang) services and cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Engineering Excellence: Champion testing automation (RSpec, MiniTest) and automated delivery pipelines (CircleCI, Jenkins), conducting thoughtful code reviews and driving technical documentation.
• Stakeholder Leadership: Partner directly with global engineering resources, product owners, and external vendors in an agile, cross-cultural setting.

Required Qualifications

• Deep professional experience in Software Engineering, with Ruby as a core language and the Ruby on Rails framework.
• Lead-level architectural acumen: Proven track record leading features, defining architectural guidelines, and modernizing large-scale production Rails applications.
• Extensive API Design & Integration: Deep hands-on experience designing and consuming distributed APIs (REST, RPC, ProtoBuf, JSON, XML).
• Automated Testing & CI/CD: Rigorous commitment to test-driven practices with RSpec and MiniTest, and continuous integration suites (CircleCI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• English Proficiency: Fluent / Advanced professional English is mandatory, you must be completely comfortable leading technical discussions, writing documentation, and collaborating with international stakeholders in the US.
• Location: Must be permanently based in Brazil.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Have Skills

• Practical development experience with Go (Golang) in microservices environments.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) (EC2, ECS, S3, RDS, IAM).
• Background in supply chain, logistics, circular economy, or high-volume transactional web applications.
• Experience modernizing legacy Rails applications (gem version upgrades, deprecation management, database partitioning).
