About the Role

The Lead Accountant – Helix Latin America Accounting will be primarily responsible for supporting the local statutory and US GAAP accounting for the Latin America region. This role reports directly to the Manager – Helix Latin America Accounting, works with the global shared services team in Pune, India, and interacts with various groups within the organization, including international teams, to achieve financial goals and continue the development of accounting systems and policies.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the monthly and quarterly US GAAP close process for the Latin America region, ensuring accurate account maintenance in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Support the Manager with meeting corporate deadlines and reporting requirements, analyzing results while adhering to quality control.
  • Prepare and post recurring and non‑recurring journal entries related to month‑end close.
  • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliation as assigned, and complete an in‑depth trial balance review and variance analysis.
  • Assist with annual statutory accounts filing for certain entities across Latin America, coordinating with audit firms, legal and tax providers, and company directors.
  • Maintain awareness of updates to local accounting, tax, and US GAAP requirements and integrate them into daily accounting processes.
  • Support monthly and quarterly SOX compliance processes for the region and its entities.
  • Interface with Corporate internal audit and assist management to assess controls and procedures, and recommend and implement changes as required.
  • Calculate and/or review entity‑level accounting for compliance with group intercompany agreements.
  • Prepare and review documentation for statutory audits.
  • Support the Manager with risk prioritization and management for the region and its entities.
  • Work closely with other departments and the global accounting team to support cash and entity profitability forecasting.
  • Assist with other projects and ad‑hoc requests, including new system implementation, working capital forecasting, and establishing relations with external suppliers, consultants and service providers.
Qualifications
  • Experience in corporate/regional accounting and financial controls in a public company environment or public accounting firm.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Portuguese and/or Spanish.
  • Experience with global ERP systems; Oracle, OneStream, MicroStrategy is a plus.
  • Ability to quickly learn new system technologies, multi‑task and prioritize in a dynamic environment within strict deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of financial principles including local requirements and US GAAP.
  • Team player willing to support others to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • Strict confidentiality and integrity.
  • Hands‑on approach is required.
Education / Training Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, with 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in an international environment and for a U.S. headquartered multinational company.
  • CPA (or equivalent certification) is a plus.
