Accenture seeks an intellectual property attorney with 5+ years of IP transactional contracting experience to join our global IP team in São Paulo. The role supports IP transactions, OSS license compliance, and collaboration with senior IP counsel on technology and licensing initiatives.

The successful candidate will advise on IP issues in commercial, strategic, and corporate transactions, while contributing to templates, guidance, and training to mitigate legal risks across the business.

Job Summary

Accenture is seeking an intellectual property attorney with at least five years of experience in IP transactional contracting to join our global IP team. The successful candidate will support Accenture’s intellectual property transactions practice, open-source software license compliance, and work closely with senior members of the IP Legal team on a broad range of technology, licensing, commercial, and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to intellectual property and technology transactions, including inbound and outbound software and technology licenses and other IP-related arrangements.
• Support the end-to-end review of the use and development of software incorporating components licensed under free software licenses across diverse product and service teams, with a particular focus on open-source licenses. This includes understanding software deployment, intended use, applicable licensing risks, mitigation strategies, export controls, generative AI implications, and general security risk profiles.
• Support the publication of proprietary source code under open-source licenses, including reviewing corporate contribution agreements, liaising with software engineers, business leaders, and company IP stakeholders, and tracking compliance with Accenture’s policies at each stage of the process.
• Advise internal stakeholders, including business clients, other corporate functions, and legal colleagues, on intellectual property issues arising from commercial, strategic, and corporate transactions.
• Assist in identifying, analyzing, and resolving IP-related issues in client, partner, and other business transactions, working closely with senior IP counsel and business teams.
• Support a variety of IP matters, including technology assessments, joint development projects, content publications, and the review of open-source software clauses in framework agreements.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of IP templates, guidance materials, processes, training materials, AI-enabled agents, and best practices to support the business and mitigate legal risks.
• Conduct legal research and analysis related to intellectual property, technology transactions, and other relevant legal matters.

Qualifications:

Work Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in law / Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school (specialization in Technology and/or Intellectual Property is considered a plus).
• Native Legal English proficiency with strong oral and written communication skills.

Work Experience:

• At least 5 years of experience that includes IP transactions conducted in English at a law firm, or as in-house corporate counsel and/or in legal outsourcing.
• Knowledge of intellectual property issues relevant to the technology sector.

• While Trademarks and Patents knowledge is a welcome addition, the focus of the role relies heavily on skills associated with IP transactional contracting and knowledge related to emerging technologies, including Open Source Software, Large Language Models, Generative AI, etc.
