Sibelco is seeking a Geology Manager in Jaguaruna, Brazil. You will coordinate geological activities across operations, ensure reliable models, and integrate geology with mine planning, quality, and environmental priorities. Lead the local geology team, drive data governance, and align technical outputs with corporate standards.

The role emphasizes competency in resources and reserves, governance, and collaboration with Operations and Legal entities to support sustainable mining and compliance.

• Own local data governance, QA/QC and data integrity; document assumptions and risks.
• Coordinate resource and reserve updates and ensure independent review and committee validation.
• Monitor reserve life and alignment with business needs; support exploration opportunities.
• Provide geological inputs to mine planning and work with Mine Engineering on risk, economic assumptions and tailings management.
• Establish reconciliation from geological model to mine plan and track deviations with actions.
• Lead the local geology team, define work priorities and ensure delivery of technical outputs.
• Coach team members and maintain succession and development plans.
• Implement and improve local geology processes and ensure compliant documentation.
• Build interfaces with Operations, Quality, Environment and Finance.

Job Description

Job Purpose: Accountable for the coordination, prioritization, quality and timely delivery of geology activities across the Brazil operations and exploration portfolio. The role ensures reliable geological data, interpretation and models; supports resource and reserve estimation, mine planning, reconciliation and mineral-rights compliance; and integrates geology with Operations, Mine Engineering, Quality, Environment and business priorities. çThe position implements Sibelco Geology & Mining standards locally, develops team capability, and ensures that technical outputs are reviewed, approved and communicated through clearly defined governance, including the Competent Person and the Sibelco Resources & Reserves Steering Committee where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate geological investigations that improve knowledge of operating deposits and identify, quantify and qualify additional mineral resources and reserves.
• Own local geological data governance, databases, QA/QC and data integrity. Ensure assumptions, modifying factors, risks, uncertainties and decisions are documented.
• Coordinate resource and reserve updates and annual reporting. Ensure models and estimates are independently reviewed and submitted to the Competent Person and the Sibelco Resources & Reserves Steering Committee for validation or approval, as applicable.
• Monitor reserve life, geological-model risk and corrective actions. Support reserve replacement and exploration opportunities aligned with business needs.
• Provide geological inputs to mine planning and reserve optimization. Coordinate with Mine Engineering on reserve conversion, economic assumptions, stripping, waste and tailings management, and geotechnical and hydrogeological risks.
• Establish reconciliation from geological model to mine plan, production and final products. Track deviations, causes and corrective actions, including Mine-to-Plan performance.
• Lead the local geology team, define priorities and clarify who prepares, reviews, approves, is consulted and is informed for key technical deliverables.
• Ensure work is assigned according to competence. Review quality and delivery, coach team members and maintain succession and development plans.
• Implement Sibelco Core Geology Handbooks and Geology & Mining Guidelines locally. Identify capability gaps and coordinate training in field geology, QA/QC, modelling, resource and reserve reporting, reconciliation and relevant software.
• Build effective interfaces with Operations, Mine Engineering, Quality, Environment, Finance and business leadership.
• Ensure fit-for-purpose geological interpretation, domaining, estimation, classification, validation and documentation.
• Review modelling assumptions and outputs, coordinate peer review and audits, and close agreed actions.
• Ensure models support medium- and long-term mine planning, selective mining, product-quality forecasting and reconciliation.
• Maintain consistent modelling workflows and appropriate use of approved software and data systems.
• Provide geological leadership for operating-site studies, resource extension, new deposits, acquisitions, due diligence and other business-development projects.
• Maintain oversight of mineral titles and coordinate responses to commitments or requirements from competent authorities, with Legal, Environment and permitting specialists.
• Monitor relevant mineral legislation and ensure geology deliverables support continued compliance.
• Define scopes, schedules, budgets, risks, decision points and technical acceptance criteria for geology work packages.
• Provide geological information required for new projects and investment decisions.
• Implement and continuously improve local geology processes in line with Sibelco standards and lessons learned.
• Participate in operational improvement initiatives, including WCM and 5S where applicable.
• Ensure compliance with Quality, Environment, Health and Safety management-system procedures. Maintain safe, organized field, core-storage and office work areas.
• Maintain an action register for audits, model reviews, reporting, permitting and reconciliation, with clear owners and due dates.
