The Role: Field Application Engineer (Brazil)
We are seeking a hands‑on Field Application Engineer based in Brazil to help develop, support, and maintain next‑generation "smart" farm machines. In this role, you will be the bridge between the field and the engineering team. You will carry out in‑field product testing, troubleshoot complex electro‑mechanical systems, and provide the crucial feedback needed to drive continuous product development.
This is an immediate‑start opportunity with exciting potential to travel to the United States during the Brazilian off‑season.
Key Responsibilities
As a Field Application Engineer, your primary focus will be supporting smart machinery performance directly in the field:
- In-Field Testing: Carry out hardware, software, and machine vision field tests on mechatronic agricultural machinery, providing detailed execution reports and documentation.
- Technical Support: Collect field data, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues on‑site.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the vital link between customers, product management, agronomy, and engineering to communicate real‑world user needs.
- Documentation: Assist engineering teams in creating comprehensive product documentation, user guides, and instructional materials.
- Systems Management: Track and manage recurring technical issues from initial identification to final resolution.
- Logistics & Setup: Perform hands‑on setup, maintenance, calibration, and transport of field‑testing equipment as required.
What We Are Looking For
Minimum Requirements:
- Language Skills: Full professional fluency in both English and Portuguese (written and verbal).
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Agriculture, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience supporting, troubleshooting, or maintaining complex agricultural electro‑mechanical systems (large machinery).
- Technical Troubleshooting: Strong ability to diagnose complex systems spanning hardware, software, and mechanical components.
- Communication & Mindset: Excellent customer‑facing skills with a collaborative, team‑oriented attitude.
- Mobility: Valid driver's license with a safe driving record, and a strong willingness to travel frequently to agricultural fields.
Nice-to-Have Skills (Preferred but not required):
- Familiarity with Linux environments and basic script programming.
- Experience in designing and executing Design Verification Testing (DVT).
- Basic programming/scripting skills in Python.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- This is an active, hands‑on role in an outdoor environment. You should be comfortable standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing in various weather conditions (hot and cold).
- Ability to frequently lift/move items up to 25 pounds (and occasionally up to 50 pounds).Strong visual acuity (including color vision and depth perception) to work with advanced camera and machine vision systems.
