The role requires at least 3-5 years of relevant experience, strong management skills, and an ability to work flexibly in various conditions. The ideal candidate should be computer literate and ready to work long hours, including weekends. A diploma in agriculture is advantageous, along with strong animal care knowledge and experience in farm machinery.

Overview

Underberg Area KZN: Our client is looking for a Farm Manager to join the team.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric.
• Agricultural Diploma/Degree advantageous.
• Min of 3 -5 years previous livestock husbandry & cropping experience
• Computer literate
• Attention to detail reliable & honest
• Ability to adapt and work in potentially challenging conditions and situations
• Horse-riding an advantage
• Must have sober habits and be willing to work long hours & weekends when on shift/ when needed.
• Must speak Zulu & be good team worker self-driven & motivated.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for herd & flock health: Ability to diagnose and effectively treat potential issues & run dosing & drug programme
• Understanding of feedlots shearing reproductive programs & animal nutritional requirements
• Produce bales silage & mix feed and monitor usage
• Monitor herd fertility including vet runs for fertility testing & AI of stud sheep
• Basic knowledge of fencing and machinery repairs an advantage
• Experience in fire burning & veld management
• Being mechanically & maintenance orientated
• Ability to cull vermin an advantage.
• Ability to drive JD sprayers planters tractors & combine harvesters an advantage.
• Flexible approach to work happy to fill in where the team needs him.
• Must be professional energetic and diligent with a good work ethic essential
