Job summary

Gea Group in Campinas, Brazil is seeking a Process Engineer to validate and implement process systems across Liquid, Powder and Chemical Technologies. You will develop process designs, prepare engineering documentation, and support procurement, installation, commissioning and startup.

You will work closely with internal teams, suppliers and customers to ensure solutions meet customer requirements while complying with quality, safety and regulatory standards, including EHEDG and 3-A where

Qualifications

• Degree in Food Engineering, Chemistry, or Industrial/Production Engineering.
• Knowledge of liquid processing, brewing, beverage, dairy, pasteurization and sterilization, fermentation, CIP/SIP of equipment and lines.
• Ability to lead commissioning and start-up.
• Fluent English (spoken and written).
• Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO, NR (Brazilian workplace health and safety regulations).

Responsibilities

• Define production and process engineering solutions from concept to execution.
• Prepare and/or review mass and energy balances, process calculations, and analyses.
• Size, select and specify process equipment and components.
• Develop PFDs and P&IDs and support GA drawings.
• Prepare equipment and instrument data sheets and specs for procurement.
• Develop process and functional descriptions for control and automation, including FAT support.
• Support pre-engineering, cost estimation, and project scheduling.
• Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, Procurement, Logistics, Mechanical, Electrical & Automation teams, and CT Cs.
• Support procurement lifecycle and vendor communications in SAP.
• Lead order and technical clarification meetings with customers.
• Lead water and product trials, commissioning, start-up, and performance verification.
• Ensure compliance with internal standards, hygienic design and regulatory requirements.
• Perform process risk assessments including HAZOP with QESH compliance.
• Update as-built documentation and mentor other engineers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and tools.

Job description

The Process Engineer validates the design and implementation of process systems within the Liquid, Powder and Chemical Technologies divisions. The role contributes to the successful execution of projects from early sales support through detailed engineering, commissioning, and optimization.
The Process Engineer is responsible for developing process designs, preparing engineering documentation, supporting procurement and installation activities, and assisting in commissioning and startup.
The role ensures that process solutions meet customer requirements while complying with company standards for quality, safety, and environmental performance.
This position works closely with internal engineering teams, project managers, suppliers, and customers to deliver technically sound and efficient process solutions.

Responsibilities / Tasks

• Define production and process engineering solutions , from initial concept through detailed engineering and project execution.
• Prepare and/or review mass and energy balances , process calculations, and engineering analyses required to support process design.
• Perform the sizing, selection, and technical specification of process equipment and components, including pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, valves, instrumentation, piping, and related accessories.
• Develop and maintain Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and provide process engineering input to plant layouts and General Arrangement (GA) drawings.
• Prepare equipment and instrument data sheets, technical specifications, and other engineering documentation required for procurement.
• Develop process and functional descriptions to define process control and automation requirements, including technical support during software Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
• Contribute to pre-engineering activities, cost estimation, technical evaluations, and project schedule planning to support effective project execution.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Project Management, Procurement & Logistics, Mechanical, Electrical & Automation Engineering, other Process Engineers, suppliers, and global Core Technology Centers (CTCs).
• Support the procurement lifecycle , including technical bid evaluation and equalization, preparation of purchase requisitions in SAP, management of technical deviations from Purchase Orders, and coordination with Logistics regarding material delivery and expediting.
• Lead order and technical clarification meetings , ensuring that engineering solutions comply with customer specifications, contractual requirements, and process design criteria.
• Lead water and product trials, commissioning, start-up, performance verification, and operational support at customer sites.
• Ensure process solutions comply with internal engineering standards, hygienic design principles, and applicable industry and regulatory requirements , including EHEDG and 3-A requirements where applicable.
• Perform process risk assessments , including HAZOP studies, while ensuring compliance with Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements.
• Update as-built process documentation at project completion, ensuring that final engineering documents reflect the installed solution.
• Provide technical training to customers and support the development of other engineers through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and training.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal engineering standards, tools, methods, and procedures.

Your Profile / Qualifications

• Degree in Food Engineering, Chemistry, or Industrial/Production Engineering
• Specific knowledge of liquid processing in general, brewing process, Beverage, Dairy, Pasteurization and Sterilization, Fermentation, CIP/SIP of equipment and lines, Liquid Dissolving and Mixing, Filtration, Dosing, among others.
• Ability to lead commissioning and start-up
• Communication skills and good interpersonal relationships
• Ability to work in a team
• Fluent English (spoken and written)
• Good knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Visio, MS Project, and SAP
• Advanced Excel skills
