Position Summary
The Director of Sales is a key leadership role at Sonsray Fleet Services, responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and ensuring customer satisfaction. This role requires a visionary leader to build, nurture, and empower a high-performing sales team within a dynamic matrix management environment. The Director of Sales will provide training, coaching, and mentorship to cultivate a sales force that consistently exceeds expectations, reporting directly to the Executive Vice President.
Responsibilities
- Sales Force Development and Performance Management: Develop, coach, control, and motivate the sales force to enhance skills and achieve monthly sales and KPI targets. Establish clear sales targets, track progress, and oversee weekly activities, performance metrics, and CRM utilization.
- Scope & Division Context: This role oversees the Sonsray Fleet Services sales organization across the West Coast (CA & NV), leading regional sales operations and strategic growth initiatives.
- Strategic Business Growth and Market Expansion: Lead sales efforts and spearhead growth initiatives for Transport Refrigeration Units (TRUs), Van Body Conversion product sales, Auxiliary Power Units (APUs), and significantly increase revenue from Service & Parts Maintenance Agreements.
- Customer Service & Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborates with cross-functional management to align customer service, operations, and sales goals, ensuring exceptional customer experience.
- Relationship Management and Key Account Development: Cultivate strong business relationships with Trailer and Body Manufacturing companies, and expand key account relationships with Commercial Truck Dealerships, Leasing Companies, and direct customers.
- Compliance and Performance Standards: Meet and exceed all Sonsray KPIs and adhere to Thermo King Corporation Sales requirements.
- Strategic Execution / Reporting: Responsible for providing timely and accurate sales reporting, forecasting, and strategic insights to executive leadership.
- Sales Strategy and Market Development: Develop and implement innovative sales strategies and programs to capture key demographics and emerging market opportunities.
- Industry Knowledge and Professional Development: Maintain cutting-edge industry knowledge by actively participating in Thermo King Corporation National meetings and training, and continuously expanding networks.
- Soft Skills & Strategic Thinking: Requires strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and the ability to assess market conditions to identify and execute growth opportunities.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressive sales and/or service experience, preferably in the transportation industry. Strong business acumen, understanding of market dynamics and financial indicators, and proven experience leading large sales territories are essential.
- Travel: Extensive domestic travel (up to 80%) to Sonsray Fleet Services locations in CA and NV is required.
- Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to write proposals, negotiate complex contracts, and create local marketing plans.
- Collaboration and Communication: Exceptional ability to work collaboratively at all organizational levels.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, internet functions, and various CRM systems.
- Education: A four-year college degree in Business/Management or a related field is strongly preferred.
