Job summary

Blacksmith Agency LLC seeks a senior Design Systems Engineer to own how client design systems are built. You take a brand and reference sites, extract the pattern, and turn it into tokens, variables, modes, and core components a build pipeline can execute with precision.

This is a systems-first role, not one-off pages or maintenance. You stand up new systems quickly, and ensure consistency across several client brands at once.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing for the web with real design system work in your portfolio.
• Fluency in Figma variables, component properties, auto layout, and variants.
• A portfolio showing work across different clients with consistent rigor.
• Strong English and overlap with US business hours.

Responsibilities

• Build token architecture in Figma using variables, modes, and semantic naming for predictable pipelines.
• Ship core component libraries that hold up across entire sites, not just homepages.
• Document the system so developers and automated pipelines can execute it without questions.
• Work across several client brands simultaneously with the same structural rigor.

What You Will Own

• Build token architecture in Figma using variables, modes, and semantic naming our pipeline can read predictably.
• Ship core component libraries that hold up across an entire site, not just a homepage.
• Document the system so a developer or an automated pipeline can execute it without questions.
• Work across several client brands at once, each looking distinctly different, with the same structural rigor.

What You Bring
