Job summary

GeorgiaTEK Systems Inc. is seeking a senior Data Engineer to design, build and scale data pipelines that collect data from multiple sources and prepare it for analytic use.

You will consolidate, cleanse and structure data for client solutions and implement data quality checks to ensure governance and security. The role requires 5 years of experience in data engineering, a STEM degree, and strong Python/SQL skills, with Google Cloud Platform experience and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline; a Master's is highly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a related role.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
• Proficient with Google Cloud Platform and cloud computing concepts.

Job description

• Apply knowledge of data characteristics and data delivery patterns to develop rules and monitor processes that support the data quality model
• Prepare data for analytical use by building data pipelines that collect data from multiple sources and systems
• Integrate consolidate cleanse and structure data for use by clients within our solutions
• Design create and interpret large and highly complex datasets
• Stay current with the latest trends and advancements in GCP and related technologies actively proposing and evaluating new solutions
• Understand best practices for data management maintenance reporting and security and use this knowledge to improve our solutions
• Implement security best practices across pipelines and infrastructure
• Develop and implement data quality checks and troubleshoot data anomalies
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior Data Engineers
• Review dataset implementations completed by junior Data Engineers

• Responsibilities include designing managing and delivering insights and analytical solutions through data analytics and data science Primary activities include providing technical and strategic business expertise and ensuring proper governance of data sources models attributes and analytical platforms The role is responsible for the companys data and insights strategy and its execution while promoting thought leadership internally and externally regarding the use and application of data and analytics for competitive advantage

• Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent Masters degree highly preferred
• 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a related role
• Cloud certification highly preferred
• Advanced skills in programming languages such as Python or SQL with intermediate experience in scripting languages
• Intermediate understanding and experience with Google Cloud Platform and general cloud computing concepts as well as basic knowledge of other cloud environments
• Experience building and maintaining moderately complex data pipelines troubleshooting issues transforming data and ingesting data into pipelines so it is consumable and usable for future projects
• Experience designing and implementing moderately complex data models and optimizing them to improve performance
• Advanced Git and CICD integration skills
