About the Crude Business Development Team

The Crude Business Development Team is responsible for leading some of the more complex multi-stakeholder Shell Trading deals both to grow

  • the third party Trading business,
  • refinery crude supply,
  • by representing Trading within major Shell Group projects,
  • enhance Structured Trade finance deals with the Trading Commodity team in M&A projects.
What is the purpose

To support the growth of Crude Trading in Latin America by successfully and efficiently closing out Business Development complex projects not only related to the supply of crude to the domestic refineries in Brazil, but also complex commercial origination deals both individually and through project team members, working closely with relevant Trading desks that will ultimately own the contracts, and the Trading support functions.

This includes developing strategies with the Trading desks, Downstream and Upstream.

In achieving these aims, it is intended to maximize the use of cross-business relationships within Shell for the benefit of Trading and Group.

Crude Sr. Business Development Manager

The incumbent will be accountable for the following:

  • Project management of new and complex development opportunities and lead the project with senior stakeholders focusing to supply crude to the private refineries in Brazil.
  • Provide full support of Shell Trading Brazil implementation in São Paulo.
  • Develop and maintain key Trading and Industry relationships that are complementary to those held by the Trading desks.
  • Identify, originate, and deliver growth opportunities for Crude Trading focusing on third‑party producers.
  • Creating innovative solutions to meet customer requirements whilst maximizing tradable optionality value, taking due account of all risks including credit, price risk, HSSE and Group reputation.
  • The negotiation will be done on a service provision structure.
  • Work with other Shell Businesses in Brazil to ensure that Trading value is identified, understood and realized to maximize overall Shell value.
  • Provide input into the development of both Trading and wider Group business strategies and initiatives.
  • Ensure that projects / deals are properly coordinated and implemented.
Requirements

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Brazil on a full‑time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or any related field is required.
  • High level understanding of the relevant Brazilian markets and logistics is a key success factor.
  • Relevant Business Development and basic refinery experience is required.
  • Able to grasp new concepts quickly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication and influencing abilities.
  • Ability to build support and consensus across organizational interfaces.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders and to use this to sell ideas to customers.
  • Experienced negotiator with a proven track record of complex deals closed and delivered.
  • Strong evidence of commercial acumen and delivery in dealing with 3rd parties.
