What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct investigative interviews to gather and analyze financial and legal information relevant to child support cases
- Prepare legal documentation and manage court actions to establish or modify child support orders
- Facilitate pre‑hearing conferences and negotiate legal settlements with parents and attorneys
- Present case facts and recommendations during court hearings and explain child support calculations
- Manage and update case files, ensuring compliance with federal and state timelines and requirements
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, business administration, or finance, with one year of experience as a child support worker or legal assistant; OR
- Associate’s degree with three years of experience in a related field; OR
- High School diploma or equivalent with five years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in keyboard skills, including typing at least 35 WPM
- Knowledge of child support program functions and federal/state regulations
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Completed degree in human services, humanities, social sciences, or paralegal/legal assistant
- Direct child support experience within the past five years in Minnesota
- Experience preparing family court legal documents such as motions and affidavits
