Tenneco, a global leader in automotive systems, is hiring a Buyer for its Ride Performance division in Mogi Mirim, Brazil. You will source materials across multiple commodities, develop new suppliers, and negotiate contracts to support cost-effective product development.

You will work closely with Quality and Engineering teams to ensure technical specifications are met and that BOMs are accurate for new products, while managing supplier selection and PPAP documentation.

Qualificações

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Business Admin, Mechanical, Production, Materials, or Automation/Control).
  • Experience with sourcing for new products and supplier development.
  • Advanced Excel skills and English proficiency.

Responsabilidades

  • Request and analyze quotations from suppliers, ensuring compliance with technical specs, quantities, delivery, and timelines.
  • Obtain quotations to support BOM cost evaluation for new products.
  • Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery conditions and other commercial terms with suppliers.
  • Conduct technical and commercial analysis of supplier proposals with Quality and Product Engineering teams.
  • Lead the sourcing process and obtain internal approvals.
  • Select and nominate suppliers and coordinate execution of commercial contracts.
  • Request and follow up on required PPAP documentation.
  • Monitor quality testing, sample deliveries, and validation activities to ensure materials meet specs and deadlines.
  • Analyze technical and financial proposals for new and existing components to optimize sourcing results.
  • Negotiate competitive payment terms to optimize working capital.
  • Follow up on Purchase Orders through delivery to meet stakeholders' requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and cross-functional teams throughout NPD and sourcing.

This position will be part of Tenneco’s Ride Performance business, within the Shock Absorbers division, based in Mogi Mirim, São Paulo, Brazil.

About the Role

The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and developing productive materials for new product development projects across multiple commodities, including steel, stamped components, sintered parts, tubes, machined components, plastics, bearings, fasteners, rubber, chemicals, and others.

This role will be responsible for obtaining quotations and supporting the development and cost evaluation of new products, working closely with Quality and Engineering teams to develop new suppliers and products according to technical specifications. The position will also be responsible for negotiating commercial conditions and implementing commercial agreements and contracts.

Responsibilities
  • Request and analyze quotations in accordance with company policies from qualified and/or potential suppliers, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, quantities, delivery requirements, and project timelines.
  • Obtain quotations for productive materials to support the preparation and evaluation of the Bill of Materials (BOM) for new products.
  • Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery conditions, and other commercial requirements with suppliers.
  • Conduct technical and commercial analysis of supplier proposals in collaboration with Quality and Product Engineering teams.
  • Lead the sourcing process and obtain the required internal approvals.
  • Select and nominate suppliers and coordinate the issuance and execution of commercial contracts.
  • Request and follow up on required PPAP documentation.
  • Follow up, when applicable, on quality testing, sample deliveries, and validation activities to ensure that materials and/or finished products meet project specifications and deadlines.
  • Analyze technical and financial proposals for new and existing components to achieve competitive sourcing results.
  • Negotiate competitive payment terms to optimize the company’s working capital.
  • Follow up on the issuance of Purchase Orders and, when applicable, monitor the process through material delivery to ensure internal stakeholders’ requirements are met.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams throughout the new product development and sourcing process.
  • Support cost competitiveness and supplier development initiatives aligned with business and project objectives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Materials Engineering, Automation and Control Engineering, or a related field.
  • Intermediate to Advanced English.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Knowledge of sourcing processes for new products and supplier development.
  • Experience in the automotive industry and/or with productive materials and commodities is highly desirable.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects and priorities.
