About You and this Role

Liferay seeks to expand its ability to empower, inspire, and influence technical practitioners and developers by producing exceptionally engaging and accessible documentation and training material.

To support this effort, Liferay seeks motivated, independent, and servant-hearted Technical Writers to participate in organizing, writing, and revising documentation and training materials for our Business Process Management, Analytics Cloud and Site Management component areas.

Key Objectives

• Collaborating with Enablement leads to plan, create, and maintain product documentation, enablement courses, and other learning content for Liferay products.
• Keeping older documentation up to date.
• Collaborating with development leads to plan and write new documentation to capture new features, enhancements, and changes to the software as they are implemented.
• Creating engaging developer tutorials that showcase the power and value of Liferay development.
• Revising existing documentation to meet Liferay's documentation standards.
• Contributing to presentation of learning content in relevant formats: written, webinars, classroom, video narration, and more.
• Actively engaging with the Liferay community to understand and address learning needs.

Required Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written command of the English language, able to balance completeness with brevity.
• Experience in technical writing, product documentation, or online publishing.
• Experience developing educational content, such as courses, webinars, and tutorials.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Markdown, Git, and GitHub.
• Experience working at the Linux / Unix CLI.
• Ability to read and understand source code written in Java and / or JavaScript.
• Experience helping others learn highly technical topics.
