Job summary

Subsea7 in Rio de Janeiro is seeking an experienced Applications Support technical specialist to join our global Survey team. Qualifications

• Degree or higher education qualification in a relevant discipline such as Surveying, Geomatics, Hydrography, Earth Sciences or Electronics Engineering
• Extensive experience with EIVA NaviSuite for offshore survey & positioning operations
• Practical understanding of GNSS, USBL, LBL, MRU and inertial navigation systems
• Knowledge of multibeam echosounders
• Detailed understanding of sensor calibration and QC
• Ability to apply structured fault-finding to software and equipment
• IT proficiency including MS Office; basic networking and serial communications
• Demonstrates effective communication in English
• Ability to travel locally and internationally
• Detail-oriented with a right-first-time approach

Responsibilities

• Providing operational assistance to offshore and onshore personnel in subsea survey operations; support the Brazil PLSV fleet in using survey equipment and software
• Develops and maintains local support documentation for the PLSV SURF fleet
• Performs periodic vessel visits and offshore rotations for onboard training and calibrations of survey systems
• Contributes to the global Survey knowledgebase with technical articles and lessons learned
• Conducts remote assistance sessions with end users as required
• Reviews calibrations, verifications and dimensional reports for quality control
• Participates as a support agent in the Survey Helpdesk via email, web, Teams and phone
• Interfaces with third-party technical support teams as required
• Presents and demonstrates at technical training events
• Aids Electronics Workshop in configuring survey software systems
• Performs integration and functional testing of survey equipment and software
• Assists Project Surveyors with yard or vessel visits to support project operations
• Assists Survey Operations Manager with materials tracking and logistics for locally based survey equipment

We have an exciting opportunity for an Applications Support technical specialist to join our global Survey team. The role will work from our Rio de Janeiro office in Brazil.

Temos uma excelente oportunidade para um(a) Especialista Técnico(a) em Suporte de Aplicações se juntar à nossa equipe global de Survey. A posição será baseada em nosso escritório no Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

The successful candidate will be an experienced subsea survey professional with expertise in EIVA NaviSuite and offshore positioning operations within subsea construction and pipelay projects.

Skills required are a solid understanding of survey systems and sensors, including GNSS, USBL, LBL, INS and multibeam echosounders, together with experience in sensor calibration, quality control, fault-finding and basic network communications to support safe and efficient offshore operations.

Applicants should be fluent in Portuguese with English language proficiency equivalent to CEFR Level B2 (Upper Intermediate) or higher, with the ability to read, translate and develop technical documentation, understand verbal instructions, and prepare clear written reports, emails and other correspondence in English.

Buscamos alguém com forte conhecimento de sistemas e sensores de survey, incluindo GNSS, USBL, LBL, INS e ecobatímetros multifeixe (multibeam echosounders), além de experiência em calibração de sensores, controle de qualidade, diagnóstico e resolução de falhas (fault-finding) e conhecimentos básicos de redes de comunicação, contribuindo para operações offshore seguras e eficientes.

What will you be doing?

Providing operational assistance to both offshore and onshore personnel in the performance of subsea survey operations. Primarily supporting non-survey personnel onboard the Brazil PLSV fleet in the correct use of survey equipment and software.

• Provides day to day operational support in survey software and equipment associated with regional PLSV and SURF operations
• Develops and maintains support and operational documentation specific to the local PLSV fleet
• Periodic vessel visits and offshore rotations to provide onboard training, auditing of Survey systems and setup and perform annual vessel and ROV system calibrations
• Contributes to the global Survey knowledgebase through technical articles, lessons learned and other activities
• Conducts remote assistance sessions with end users as required
• Assists in the review and quality control of calibrations, verifications and dimensional control reports
• Participates as a support agent in the company Survey Helpdesk system providing technical support by email, web, Teams and phone
• Liaises with third party technical support teams as required
• Presents and demonstrates at technical training events
• Assists the Electronics Workshop with the configuration of survey software systems
• Performs integration and functional testing of survey equipment and software
• Assists Project Surveyors as required with yard or vessel visits in support of project operations
• Assists Survey Operations Manager in the material tracking and logistics of locally based Survey equipment for projects

Reporting to the Survey Operations Manager, GPC West Brazil, the role has a functional reporting line to the global Survey Helpdesk and associated Survey Applications and Survey Engineering teams. This ensures that issues raised locally are appropriately registered within the support system and addressed in a timely and consistent manner in line with global standards.

Effective business relationships should be established with internal and external parties. This includes supplier’s technical support teams, Offshore Management, Marine and Operational personnel, and survey project and technical personnel both on and offshore.

Principais Responsabilidades

• Prestar suporte operacional diário para softwares e equipamentos de survey associados às operações regionais de PLSV e SURF;
• Desenvolver e manter documentação operacional e de suporte específica para a frota local de PLSVs;
• Realizar visitas periódicas às embarcações e rotações offshore para treinamentos a bordo, auditorias de sistemas de survey e execução de calibrações anuais dos sistemas de embarcação e ROV;
• Contribuir para a base global de conhecimento de Survey por meio de artigos técnicos, lições aprendidas e outras iniciativas;
• Conduzir sessões de suporte remoto para usuários finais quando necessário;
• Apoiar a revisão e o controle de qualidade de calibrações, verificações e relatórios de controle dimensional;
• Atuar como agente de suporte no sistema corporativo Survey Helpdesk, prestando assistência técnica por e‑mail, web, Teams e telefone;
• Interagir com equipes de suporte técnico de terceiros, quando necessário;
• Apresentar e demonstrar conteúdos em eventos de treinamento técnico;
• Apoiar a Oficina de Eletrônica na configuração de sistemas de software de survey;
• Realizar testes de integração e funcionalidade de equipamentos e softwares de survey;
• Auxiliar Surveyors de Projeto em visitas a estaleiros ou embarcações para suporte às operações dos projetos;
• Auxiliar o Survey Operations Manager no rastreamento de materiais e na logística de equipamentos de survey baseados localmente para projetos.

Reportando-se ao Survey Operations Manager, GPC West Brazil, a função também possui uma linha de reporte funcional para o time global de Survey Helpdesk e para as equipes de Survey Applications e Survey Engineering. Essa estrutura garante que os problemas identificados localmente sejam devidamente registrados no sistema de suporte e tratados de forma consistente e dentro dos prazos estabelecidos pelos padrões globais.

Será fundamental desenvolver relacionamentos sólidos com partes interessadas internas e externas, incluindo equipes de suporte técnico de fornecedores, gerência offshore, equipes marítimas e operacionais, além de profissionais de survey e técnicos de projetos tanto onshore quanto offshore.

What experience would we like you to have?

• Compreensão aprofundada dos princípios de calibração e controle de qualidade (QC) de sensores de survey;
