Crossing Hurdles is seeking a contractor to conduct frontier AI research remotely. You will design experiments, build datasets, tooling, and evaluation frameworks, and train and evaluate AI/ML models.

Collaboration with research, engineering, product, and operations teams is essential to translate findings into practical improvements. The role requires 7+ years of research engineering experience, strong Python skills, and advanced degrees in AI/ML/CS.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of significant research engineering experience in ML or frontier AI.
• Master's or PhD in AI, ML, CS or closely related technical field.
• Strong Python programming skills and experience with modern AI/ML frameworks and research tooling.

Type: Contractor Assignment

Compensation: $35/hr

Location: Remote

Commitment: 40 hours/week, with at least 4 hours overlap during PST business hours

Role Responsibilities

• Conduct research on frontier AI systems, including synthetic and agentic data generation, reinforcement learning, post-training, model understanding, benchmarks, and AI evaluation.

Requirements

• 7+ years of significant research engineering experience working on machine learning or frontier AI systems, with a Master s or PhD in AI, ML, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
• Strong foundations in machine learning with practical experience designing experiments, training models, evaluating models, or developing AI systems.
• Demonstrated research experience in reinforcement learning, post-training, AI evaluation, benchmarks, synthetic/agentic data generation, model understanding, or AI agents.
• Strong Python programming skills and experience with modern AI/ML frameworks and research tooling.
