Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and at least 5 years in construction projects. This role offers a dynamic work environment, focusing on high-quality deliverables and effective communication among stakeholders.
The Site Engineer is the primary technical and supervisory presence on the construction site, responsible for the accurate and high-quality execution of engineering designs and plans. This role ensures work is constructed precisely according to drawings, manages site quality control, and provides technical guidance to foremen and the construction workforce.
Technical Execution: Interpret and set out engineering designs and drawings on-site, ensuring all works (levels, alignments, dimensions) are built to specification.
Supervision: Provide direct, daily technical supervision to site foremen and subcontractors, resolving technical issues as they arise in the field.
Quality Control (QC): Conduct regular inspections of materials and workmanship, ensuring they meet project quality standards and specifications before concrete pouring or subsequent work commences.
Coordination: Act as the technical link between the Project Manager, design consultants, and the construction team to ensure smooth workflow and material sequencing.
Documentation: Maintain accurate site diaries, daily progress reports, and "as-built" records detailing any deviations or changes made during construction.
Resource Management: Monitor the efficiency of materials, plant, and labor usage on-site, reporting any shortages or wastage.
Experience: Proven experience in a Site Engineer role, typically requiring 5+ years of experience in civil, structural, or similar construction projects.
Technical Degree: Mandatory Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Site Setting Out: Expert proficiency in setting out and surveying techniques (e.g., using total stations or GPS equipment).
Blueprint Reading: Exceptional ability to read and interpret complex engineering and architectural drawings.
Problem-Solving: Strong on-the-spot technical resolution skills to overcome unexpected site challenges.
Reporting: Meticulous approach to site reporting and documentation control.
Experience: Proven professional experience as a Document Controller, preferably in the Construction or Engineering industry.
Technical Proficiency: Expert use of Document Management Systems (DMS) and the Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational abilities with a focus on meticulous record-keeping and data integrity.
Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy to prevent errors in numbering, indexing, and revision control.
Communication: Effective communication skills for coordination with project teams and external parties.
