Job summary

AHK Contracting in Bahrain seeks a Planning Engineer with 3–5 years of experience in building and civil construction projects. You will develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6, create WBS, and monitor progress against baselines.

Responsibilities include recovery schedules, delay analysis, progress reporting to management and clients, and coordination with PMs, site engineers, and subcontractors to ensure on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction-related field.
• 3–5 years as Planning Engineer in construction.
• Excellent knowledge of Primavera P6; MS Project is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed construction project schedules using Primavera P6.
• Prepare WBS based on drawings, scope and activities.
• Develop baseline programs, milestones, and execution schedules.
• Monitor actual progress vs baseline schedules and report variances.
• Collect and verify daily/weekly progress from site teams.
• Prepare weekly/monthly progress reports for management and clients.
• Identify delays, slippages, and schedule risks.
• Analyze critical path, float, and schedule performance.
• Prepare recovery programs and corrective actions for delays.
• Coordinate with PMs, site engineers, QS, subcontractors and other departments.
• Track manpower, materials, equipment, and resources against requirements.
• Update schedules for variations and site progress.
• Prepare look-ahead schedules and short-term execution plans.
• Assist with EOT claims and delay analysis when required.
• Attend progress meetings and provide planning updates.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) based on project drawings, scope, and construction activities.
• Develop baseline programs, target milestones, and project execution schedules.
• Monitor actual progress against approved baseline schedules.
• Collect and verify daily and weekly progress information from site teams.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for management and clients.
• Identify delays, slippages, critical activities, and potential schedule risks.
• Analyze the critical path, float, and schedule performance.
• Prepare recovery programs and recommend corrective actions for delayed activities.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, QS, subcontractors, and other departments.
• Track manpower, materials, equipment, and resources against project requirements.
• Update schedules based on approved variations, changes, and actual site progress.
• Prepare look-ahead schedules and short-term execution plans.
• Assist with Extension of Time (EOT) claims and delay analysis when required.
• Monitor project milestones and ensure activities are aligned with overall project objectives.
• Attend progress meetings and provide planning and scheduling updates.
• Maintain proper records of programs, progress updates, and reports.

Job Specification

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as a Planning Engineer in the construction industry.
• Strong experience in building and civil construction projects.
• Excellent knowledge of Primavera P6; MS Project is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, WBS, baseline schedules, and critical path methodology.
• Experience in progress monitoring, delay analysis, recovery schedules, and reporting.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings, BOQs, and project specifications.
• Strong knowledge of construction activities and site execution processes.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Microsoft Office.
• GCC/Bahrain construction experience is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict project deadlines.
• Must be currently located in Bahrain.
• Must be available for immediate joining.
• Candidates with cancelled/transferable visa or valid local status are preferred.
