Job description

To manage a team which is responsible of Gulf Air’s Network Planning and to design an overall 2 to 5 year network strategy that encompasses hub optimization, fleet, route presence, point-to-point capacities, Origin & Destination frequencies and potential new markets globally. To provide optimal GF Network plan and propose/recommend which sectors to fly, capacity/frequency and timing of specific flights within the sector.

To contribute to the formulation of the overall strategic goals of Gulf Air Network system. Responsible for the optimization of GF network efficiency and maximizing profitability, while considering strategic growth.

To prepare business cases with analysis and economic justifications for the company new strategic directions. In addition, prepare business cases on all Network related changes including capacity/timing/frequency changes.

MAIN DUTIES
  • Evaluate current and future network and develop proposals from a passenger mix and connectivity point of view, on how to improve profitability.
  • Develop business cases to recommend new destinations, increase of frequency, change of timings, ceasing operation or aircraft changes to balance demand levels.
  • Develop network planning standards and practices to improve the quality of analytics, forecasting and cross-functional communication.
  • Spearhead quality control initiatives for the function.
  • Liase with other departments such as revenue management, commercial and operations to improve service delivery.
  • Develop high-level Network plans and its implications on all areas of business.
  • Responsible for providing to executive management detailed analysis concerning the company’s New Routes Analysis.
  • Move Network Planning to consistent methodologies and procedures.
  • Prepare Network Plan for the annual revenue budget based on market conditions, route performance and fleet assumptions.
  • Control multiple assumptions within complex scenarios that need to be evaluated and examined in order to conclude the optimal change with the highest commercial return to the business.
  • Work closely with Network Performance team to recommend changes to the current routes and sectors to enhance performance.
  • Perform economic analysis of any new route opportunities and progress to a business case to be presented to executive management that includes clear recommendations.
  • Recommend short-term capacity changes to improve performance.
  • Develop the optimal long term (2 to 10 Years) Network Plan.
  • Continuous development of GF Network Plan incorporating the impact of all competitors.
  • Responsible for providing to executive management detailed analysis concerning the company’s route Profitability and Performance, traffic and market conditions.
  • Responsible for Network Optimization process, which affects the company’s overall performance and bottom line.
  • Responsible for maximizing network connectivity by optimizing BAH Hub Bank Structure.
  • Responsible for Religious movements planning and coordination with all stakeholders.
  • Handling Charter flights operation, including (quotation, Negotiation, agreement, implementation and managing the clients.
  • Network Planning and Schedule Development

  • Team with Network Analysts and Schedule developers to improve network profitability.
  • Support Network Analysts in analyzing and optimizing the operating plan.
  • Leadership – Maintain Manage a team within the department by proposing department objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.
  • Coach and mentor the team with regard to KPIs, career planning and learning opportunities.
EDUCATION & TRAINING

University degree in Management & Economics or Statistics or equivalent professional qualification preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 7 years’ of experience in a responsible position in planning or marketing in an international airline or equivalent organization. High level of knowledge and understanding of Finance/Network systems is essential.
