About the Role

Joseph Gallagher Ltd is seeking a highly motivated Deputy Plant Manager to join our tunnelling operations in Bahrain. The successful candidate will support the Technical Manager in overseeing the maintenance, mobilisation, and efficient operation of a wide range of heavy plant and tunnelling machinery used across our ongoing microtunnelling and infrastructure projects.

This position requires a hands on leader with strong technical knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems, steel fabrication, and tunnelling plant, including slurry TBMs, separation plants, jacking systems, and associated support equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Technical Manager in the day-to-day management of the plant and equipment fleet across multiple project sites.
  • Supervise workshop operations including repair, refurbishment, fabrication, and modification of mechanical and structural components.
  • Ensure all heavy plant, tunnelling, and support equipment are maintained in line with manufacturer and company standards.
  • Plan, prioritise, and coordinate maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and ensure operational readiness.
  • Oversee electrical and hydraulic system diagnostics, fault finding, and repairs.
  • Support in the mobilisation and demobilisation of TBMs, slurry systems, jacking frames, and separation plants.
  • Manage workshop technicians, electricians, and fitters; provide technical guidance and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
  • Liaise closely with site teams to ensure plant availability meets project requirements.
  • Assist in procurement of spare parts, consumables, and fabrication materials.
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all relevant company and statutory requirements.

  • GCC or international project experience preferred.
