Pauwels Consulting seeks a Web Developer for a client in the public safety sector to extend and enhance digital applications. You will work on high-performance, user-friendly solutions within a specialized platform, contributing to design, integration and code quality in an onsite Antwerp setting.

The role emphasizes full-stack development with Node.js, React and PostgreSQL, microservices, RabbitMQ and Docker, in a collaborative agile team with architectural responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing web-based applications.
• Backend development with Node.js and JavaScript.
• Frontend development with React and CSS.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or other RDMS.
• Microservices and distributed architecture experience.
• RabbitMQ messaging and integration experience.
• Docker containerization experience.
• Proactive with architectural decision making and Dutch at C2 level.

Our client, a prominent organization in the public safety sector, is seeking a Web Developer to join a newly established innovation-focused team. The role involves the further development and expansion of digital applications to support staff with high-performance, user-friendly, and future-oriented solutions within a specialized platform.

• Contribute to the full development cycle of web-based applications including design and integration.
• Develop and expand microservices and distributed applications within a specialized digital ecosystem.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary agile team to ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Take responsibility for the performance, scalability, and maintainability of developed solutions.
• Perform coding, testing, and debugging tasks with a focus on high-quality code standards.
• Support the integration of innovative technologies and AI models into existing applications.

• 5+ years of experience in the development of web-based applications.
• Experience with backend development using Node.js and JavaScript.
• Experience with frontend development using React and CSS.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational database systems (RDMS).
• Experience with Microservices and distributed application architecture.
• Experience with RabbitMQ for messaging and integration.
• Experience with containerization using Docker.
• You are proactive, solution-oriented, and capable of taking technical responsibility for architectural decisions.
• You are fluent in Dutch with a C2 level of proficiency.

Nice to Haves

• Experience leading a development team or coaching other developers.
• Knowledge of AI and Machine Learning models including LLMs (e.g., GPT, Claude, LLaMA) or VLMs.
• Experience with Vector databases, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), and prompt engineering.
• Knowledge of Elixir or Redis.
• Experience with Scrum and Agile development methodologies in a leading capacity.
