As test automation engineer you will be joining the dynamic and talented Transversal test team within YPTO's Business Area "Commercial Channels & Products." This team plays a crucial role in shaping the future of our commercial channels and product offerings, driving innovation, and enhancing the overall customer experience.

The Business Area “Commercial Channels & Products” is the IT partner of SNCB-NMBS’s Directorate for Marketing & Sales. This directorate manages all sales channels (front-end as well as back-end) and aftersales solutions of NMBS-SNCB. These include NMBS-SNCB’s website, mobile app, cash-desk, ticket vending machines, sales on board and the B2B sales channels.

Position Summary

As a Front-End Test Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the quality of our customer-facing applications through efficient and reliable automated testing. You will design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks with a strong focus on front-end UI testing using Katalon Studio. Working in a dynamic Agile environment, you will collaborate closely with developers, analysts, and testers to ensure early detection of issues, seamless delivery, and a great end-user experience.

Your responsibilities
  • Design, create, and maintain front-end test automation scripts using Katalon Studio

  • Convert existing manual test cases into automated test scripts

  • Set up and maintain robust test automation frameworks

  • Define and maintain test plans, regression test sets, and test data

  • Log, report, and follow up on defects and incidents using Jira and Xray

  • Collaborate in Agile ceremonies (refinements, sprint planning, 3 Amigos, retrospectives)

  • Ensure test coverage meets quality standards and business requirements

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and practices

  • Document best practices and collaborate via Confluence

  • Maintain traceability between requirements, tests, and defects


Required Hard Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience (+ 7 years) in test automation of front-end applications

  • Demonstrable strong skills (+ 5 years) in setting up and maintaining automated test frameworks and plans

  • Proven hands-on experience (5 years) with Katalon Studio

  • Demonstrable solid knowledge (+ 5 years) of test management tools: Jira, Xray, and Confluence

  • ISTQB Foundation and/or Automation certified (or willing to obtain certification shortly)

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in test automation within Agile teams

  • Strong understanding of regression testing strategies

  • Fluent in {Dutch or French} and English
