Description du poste

We are currently supporting a growing CDMO in Belgium with the appointment of a Clean Utilities Manager to take ownership of the site’s critical and clean utility infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced utilities, engineering or technical services professional with a strong GMP/pharmaceutical background who enjoys working in a hands‑on environment and wants to play a key role within a smaller, growing organisation.

The Role

As Clean Utilities Manager, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, reliability, compliance and continuous improvement of critical utility systems across the site.

You will work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering and external contractors to ensure utilities remain reliable, compliant and fit for purpose.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Lead and manage the site's clean and critical utility systems.
  • Oversee systems including Purified Water (PW), WFI, clean/pure steam, compressed air, process gases, HVAC and other GMP-critical utilities.
  • Ensure utilities are maintained and operated in accordance with GMP, EHS and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Manage utility‑related deviations, investigations, CAPAs and change controls in collaboration with Quality.
  • Support commissioning, qualification and validation activities for new and existing utility systems.
  • Monitor utility performance, reliability and availability and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage external contractors and specialist service providers.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, maintenance plans, technical documentation and utility‑related procedures.
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections, providing technical expertise around utility systems.
  • Contribute to capital projects, facility upgrades and the introduction of new equipment and systems.
  • Lead, develop and support technical/maintenance personnel where applicable.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, compliance and cost‑effectiveness across the site's utilities infrastructure.
About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Several years' experience working with GMP utilities within a pharmaceutical, biotech, CDMO or similar regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of clean and critical utilities.
  • Practical experience with systems such as PW/WFI, clean steam, HVAC, compressed air and process gases.
  • Experience managing maintenance, reliability and/or engineering activities within a GMP environment.
  • Good understanding of GMP, qualification/validation, deviations, CAPA and change control.
  • Experience working with contractors and external engineering/service providers.
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • The ability to work cross‑functionally with Quality, Production and Engineering teams.
  • Previous leadership or people‑management experience is highly desirable.
  • Fluent Dutch is required, with good English communication skills.
Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join a smaller CDMO environment where you can have genuine ownership and visibility rather than being one person within a large corporate engineering structure.

You will have the opportunity to shape the site's utilities strategy, improve reliability and compliance, and play an important role in the continued development of the facility.

If you're an experienced Utilities Manager, Technical Services Manager, Engineering Manager, Maintenance & Utilities Manager or senior utilities/engineering professional with GMP experience and you're open to hearing about a new opportunity, we'd be keen to speak with you.
