Televic Rail in Izegem, Belgium, seeks an experienced software architect to define and document robust, scalable architectures for multi-site features (BE/DE/US) and align with the global product architecture. The role combines architectural leadership with hands-on development (up to 50%), guiding local and remote teams and traveling to Televic sites as needed.

Strong communication and English fluency are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in architectural design and software development leadership.
• Familiarity with the technology stack: Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs.
• Strong hands-on software development experience and a passion for staying close to the code.
• Comfortable combining technical leadership responsibilities with active software development (up to 50% hands-on coding).
• Experience in test automation frameworks is a nice bonus.
• Able to lead technically across teams and locations, even without formal authority.
• Able to balance short-term project needs with long-term product strategy.
• Open to travel at least two times per quarter to another Televic site (BE/DE/US) to engage with the local teams.
• Strong communication skills: fluent in English (German is a plus) and comfortable working in a global environment.

• Challenge and improve designs to avoid project-specific fragmentation.
• Actively contribute to the overall product architecture roadmap.
• Translate complex requirements into clear technical designs.
• Guide development across local project teams and product development teams.
• Validate implementations against architecture, performance, and quality standards.
• Take accountability for end-to-end feature success (design implementation validation).
• Remain actively involved in software development, spending up to 50% of time designing, implementing and reviewing code.
• Work closely with the Izegem Technical Lead and Product Management.

You will be responsible for:

• Define and document robust, scalable architectures for features benefiting all the different sites (BE/DE/US)
• Ensure these solutions are fully aligned with the global software product architecture
• Challenge and improve designs to avoid project-specific fragmentation

Feature responsibility & Development oversight

• Translate complex requirements into clear technical designs
• Guide development across local project teams and product development teams
• Validate implementations against architecture, performance, and quality standards
• Take accountability for end-to-end feature success (design implementation validation)

Hands-on Software Development

• Remain actively involved in software development, spending up to 50% of your time designing, implementing and reviewing code
• Contribute hands-on to the development of key features and technical solutions
• Work closely with the Izegem Technical Lead and Product Management
• Align with System Engineering and Project Management to ensure technical feasibility and compliance.

Technical spokesperson for the Berlin project organization

• Support requirement clarification and technical feasibility assessments
• Provide hands-on guidance and troubleshooting when needed
• Facilitate knowledge transfer and review feedback from projects post-integration

UI/UX

• Ensure consistency across modules, platforms, and projects
• Collaborate with design and product to elevate user experience quality
• Define a clear test automation strategy (unit /interface/ integration testing)
• Guide and coach automation teams in approach and best practice
