KnowledgePanel® is Ipsos’ probability-based panel, delivering fast, nationally representative data for robust insights into public opinion, attitudes, and behaviour. Launched in the United States in 1999, it expanded to Europe from 2020 and now operates in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Poland, Croatia, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Germany.

The opportunity

Join the team that designs, builds, maintains and manages the Ipsos KnowledgePanel® across Europe. As Survey Methods Expert, you will lead panel design and management, drive methodological R&D, and help shape the future of high-quality probability-based research.

You will also work alongside the Ipsos’ European Public Affairs unit in Leuven, Belgium, may present your work at conferences and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.

The role

You will serve as the statistical lead for the design and management of KnowledgePanel® Europe, as well as translating client objectives into rigorous designs for KnowledgePanel surveys that balance cost, precision, and timing.

  • You will advance our panel methods through research on data integration and sample blending, including combining probability samples with alternative sources and quantifying trade‑offs in bias and variance. You will help identify and investigate statistical, methodological, and process enhancements for the design and maintenance of KnowledgePanel, including techniques to enhance the validity of collected data.
  • You will also lead methodological pilots and experiments on contact strategies, incentives, recruitment, and mode mix, and you will share findings through internal guidance, publications, and conference presentations.
  • Acting as an internal and external consultant, you will guide the design and implementation of panels and play a leading scientific role in the deployment and expansion of Ipsos’s research assets.
  • You will translate client needs into efficient, high‑quality study designs by developing sampling and weighting plans, contributing to proposals, and consulting directly with internal and external clients.
  • You will generate weights and other adjustments, perform imputation, oversee quality control procedures.
  • Throughout, you will ensure compliance with data privacy and security requirements, including GDPR, and coordinate effectively with Ipsos country teams to deliver consistent, high‑quality work across markets.

About you

  • You hold an advanced degree in survey sampling, statistics, or a directly related field, with at least 3 years of applied research experience focused on statistical sampling theory and survey methods.
  • You bring hands‑on experience with panel methods, online samples, address‑based sampling, probability sampling, and telephone sampling using RDD samples. You can provide statistical advice and written justification for sample designs and are familiar with commonly referenced data and sampling sources across Europe.
  • You have experience addressing attrition and non‑response bias in panel data analysis and understanding their impact on findings. You demonstrate ability in the design and execution of high‑quality quantitative research, statistical weighting of survey data, variance estimation, and have a working knowledge of multivariate statistical analysis.
  • You are comfortable working with public data such as health, public opinion, demographic, geospatial, social media data, and you understand multiple data collection modes and best practices of measurement and analyses.
  • You are highly skilled with SPSS and R and can convey complex, technical topics to non‑academic and non‑technical audiences in speech and writing.
  • You are highly motivated, proactive, and self‑directed, and you work well within tight and shifting deadlines. You are a team player who enjoys collaborating with international teams. You bring strong organizational skills, manage multiple projects at once, and maintain a strong client service orientation. You have strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, completeness, quality of results, and robustness of findings. You present well to internal and external clients, are an approachable colleague, and have well‑developed interpersonal skills.
