Ypto NV in Belgium is looking for a Solution Architect to translate complex platform solutions into clear, actionable designs for engineers and business stakeholders.

You will partner with enterprise and domain architecture teams, validate designs, and guide implementation while upholding guardrails. The role offers hybrid working near Brussels-South, with a focus on secure, scalable software and modern cloud technologies.

Qualifications

• Master degree in Informatics/Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience as Software Engineer and Solution Architect.
• Experience with modern architectural paradigms and cloud solutions.

Responsabilités

• Ensure product architectures are sound, evolving to support business cases and guardrails.
• Facilitate architectural debates; ensure trade-offs and risks are understood by teams and stakeholders.
• Act as a bridge between enterprise/domain architecture and solution design/tech leads.
• Validate designs and follow up on implementation activities.
• Share architectural knowledge with colleagues and contribute to collective expertise.
• Assess constraints, identify alternatives, mitigate risks, and keep stakeholders informed.

How do you help make a difference?

As a Solution Architect, you grasp the complexity associated with modern platform solutions and break it down into simpler, understandable elements for both engineers and business stakeholders. You facilitate architectural processes, identify desired qualities and constraints, ensure risks and trade-offs are discussed within the involved teams, and guide stakeholders to make informed decisions. You contribute to SNCB/NMBS by ensuring solution architectures evolve in a direction that supports the business case while respecting existing architectural guardrails.

What is your role at Ypto?

As a Solution Architect, you will take on the following responsibilities:

• You ensure that the architecture of the products assigned to you is sound, well understood, and continues to evolve in a direction that best supports the business case and follows existing guardrails.

• You facilitate architectural debates, ensuring architectural decisions are made consciously and that trade-offs and derived risks are clearly understood by both technical teams and client stakeholders.

• You act as a key partner between enterprise and domain architecture teams and solution designers or technical leads.

• You ensure that solutions approved by the architecture board are correctly implemented by validating solution designs and following up on implementation activities.

• You share architectural knowledge with colleagues and contribute to collective expertise.

• You evaluate project constraints, identify alternatives, alleviate risks, perform re-engineering when required, and keep stakeholders informed of architecture-related issues.

• You hold a Master in Informatics, a Master in Computer Science, a related degree, or have equivalent experience.

• You have at least 5 years of relevant experience as a Software Engineer and a Solution Architect.

You also possess these technical skills:

• You are familiar with the principles, opportunities, and challenges of modern architectural paradigms and know how to apply them.

• You have broad knowledge of Cloud Solutions.

• You have knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

• You have knowledge of database systems including relational, document, key/value, graph, search, and data warehouse technologies.

• You have knowledge of data engineering frameworks.

• You have knowledge of messaging and eventing systems.

• You understand connectivity and networking concepts.

• You have knowledge of communication protocols and technologies including HTTP, WS, REST, OAuth, OIDC, SAML, and GraphQL.

• You are familiar with the challenges of creating secure software and know how to manage them.

• You have proven experience with software engineering practices including SDLC and DevOps.

• You have proven experience with architecture modelling practices and languages including UML, EER, Swagger, and Archimate.

And these soft skills:

• You are always keen to learn new things, share knowledge, embrace change and learn from past experiences.

• You naturally use visual collaboration techniques such as whiteboard discussions to facilitate architectural debates.

• You are able to work effectively in a team and remain open to feedback from colleagues.

• You have excellent communication skills and can communicate effectively in both technical and layman terms while handling the pressure and flexibility of a dynamic company.

• You are fluent in English (spoken and written).

Asset:

• You have an affinity with product design and engineering top-notch digital products.

• You are fluent in one of the local languages (French and/or Dutch)
