Job summary

Powernaut is offering a Software Engineering Internship / Master’s Project in Ghent, Belgium, aimed at building the Clean Energy Future. You will design, develop and deploy core product features, touching backend services, APIs, data processing, and frontend interfaces in a fast-moving startup environment.

You’ll work on energy data, grid stability, and device orchestration, applying CS fundamentals and hands-on coding with TypeScript, Python or AWS.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, OO design).
• Hands-on coding across back-end or ML-focused projects.
• Experience with TypeScript, Python or AWS is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable backend services, APIs and data pipelines.
• Tackle real-world energy data challenges and grid-related tasks.
• Build intuitive frontends to visualize energy data and controls.
• Experiment with ML for orchestration and forecasting of smart devices.
• Participate in reviews, testing and performance optimisations for scalability.

Your Profile

We're seeking a curious and capable software engineer who is ready to dive deep and contribute meaningfully.

You'll fit right in if you:

Have a strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, etc.).

Possess a solid grasp of TypeScript, Python, or AWS – one of these should hold few secrets for you!

Possess strong problem-solving skills and enjoy tackling intricate technical challenges.

Enjoy debugging things end-to-end - working out why something broke, not just that it did.
