Job summary

ELMEA Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer to join the Maintenance & Reliability team at a leading pharmaceutical site in Geel, Belgium. The role focuses on asset performance, risk reduction, and long-term reliability strategies in a GMP environment.

You will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams to drive improvements using RCA, FMEA, RCM, and analytics tools. Fluency in Dutch and English is required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Engineering or a scientific discipline such as Chemistry or Physics, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Asset Management, or a related technical field.
• Experience with RCA, FMEA, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and predictive/condition-based maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate complex equipment failure investigations, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Analyze maintenance, operational, and process data to identify reliability trends, performance gaps, and technical bottlenecks.
• Translate data-driven insights into asset improvement strategies and long-term investment proposals.
• Optimize preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
• Challenge existing maintenance strategies and identify opportunities to improve equipment availability, reliability, and lifecycle performance.
• Develop and implement technical improvement initiatives across the site.

Job description

As a Senior Reliability Engineer, you will join the Maintenance & Reliability team (Global Engineering & Technology) at a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Geel, Belgium. You will focus on improving asset performance, reducing operational risks, and developing long-term reliability strategies within a highly regulated manufacturing environment, working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams.

• Lead and facilitate complex equipment failure investigations, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Analyze maintenance, operational, and process data to identify reliability trends, performance gaps, and technical bottlenecks.
• Translate data-driven insights into asset improvement strategies and long-term investment proposals.
• Optimize preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
• Challenge existing maintenance strategies and identify opportunities to improve equipment availability, reliability, and lifecycle performance.
• Develop and implement technical improvement initiatives across the site.
• Apply reliability engineering best practices, including RCA, FMEA, RCM, and predictive maintenance methodologies.
• Represent the Maintenance & Reliability team within multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.

Required profile.

Master’s degree in Engineering or a scientific discipline such as Chemistry or Physics, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Asset Management, or a related technical field.
• Strong understanding of reliability engineering, maintenance optimization, and asset lifecycle management.
• Practical experience with RCA, FMEA, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and predictive/condition-based maintenance.
• Good knowledge of Excel and experience with CMMS platforms, such as SAP PM, Maximo, or equivalent.
• Experience working in a GMP-regulated environment is an advantage.
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Python, or similar data analytics tools is an asset.
