Pauwels Consulting is seeking a senior backend engineer to drive architectural decisions and implement AI-driven automation. You will shape core services in Python, build scalable cloud-native apps, and lead CI/CD practices in a hybrid, Brussels-based setting.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to define technologies and ensure sustainable, high-quality code across multiple projects, with a focus on security, scalability, and data analytics.

Qualifications

• 8+ years backend development with Python, FastAPI, Celery, SQLModel and Pydantic.
• 8+ years on Google Cloud Platform including GKE, Compute Engine, BigQuery and Cloud SQL.
• 8+ years DevOps/CI/CD with Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Helm, Docker and GitLab CI/CD.
• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy and Alembic.
• Deep knowledge of JWT, IAM and Secret Manager for security and identity.
• Proficient with REST APIs and AI model usage such as Vertex AI or Pydantic AI.
• Strong Linux admin skills: Nginx, VPC networking and Wireguard.
• Structured, proactive self-starter with high integrity and fluent English.

Responsabilités

• Lead the technical build of APIs, data platforms, and overall architecture with internal stakeholders.
• Serve as a senior advisor to choose technologies, tools, and architectures per project.
• Deploy best practices to ensure scalable, high-quality modular code.
• Develop and maintain Python web services and robust CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement AI-based regression testing and provide insights for business analysis.
• Automate internal tasks and create custom solutions for risk and data analytics teams.
