Everybody uses Jira. Almost nobody runs it properly at this scale, under these security rules.
You would be the senior engineer behind the collaboration platform of a multinational defence security centre in Mons, Belgium — administering the Atlassian estate, integrating it with everything around it, and keeping it secure.
What you would be doing
- Deploying, installing and configuring Jira Software Data Center, Confluence Data Center and the plugins around them, to best practice and to the customer's own security direction
- Adding the plugins, add-ons and integrations the business actually needs
- Guarding the confidentiality and integrity of what sits in there
- Proactive maintenance and administration — users, access control, permissions — through the service management tool
- Raising, chasing and implementing change requests: new releases, security patches, user features ready for production
- Dealing with vendor support for bugs and feature requests
- Monitoring performance, troubleshooting, and tuning for security, reliability and resilience
- Running backups with the backup team, and testing and reporting on disaster recovery
- Applying security patches and upgrades promptly, and auditing so that need-to-know actually holds
- Supporting users, migrating data in and out, and customising workflows, forms and dashboards to how teams really work
- Integrating with the wider estate, including the Microsoft product suite and SharePoint
- Writing the documentation, and keeping an eye on where the products are heading
What you would bring
- At least five years administering Jira Data Center or Confluence Data Center
- System administration in Linux environments
- Scripting for automation — Bash, Python
- Excellent Java, Groovy and ScriptRunner
- A strong grounding in networking and security practice
- Migrations into or out of the Atlassian stack
- Working within IT service management
- Ownership: the wish to finish what you start
- Excellent information management, and communication that makes technical detail land
- Professional English
Nice to have
- An Atlassian product certification
- A software development background, and Ansible
- Work for or with a military or governmental organisation
Why this one is worth a look
It is platform ownership, not ticket triage — the estate is yours to design, secure and automate.
