Our client, a federal public-sector organization in Brussels, seeks an experienced backend engineer to join a hybrid, full-time team. You will contribute to building high-quality software in an agile AI-enabled environment and collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams. The role requires strong .NET/C#, REST APIs, Azure, SQL, and automation skills, plus Dutch/French with English proficiency.

Start date: 7 Sept 2026. Duration: 4 months.

Qualifications

• Eight plus years of experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
• Eight plus years of REST API development experience.
• Three plus years of backend development with .NET and C#.
• Three plus years of experience with Azure cloud platforms.
• Three plus years of SQL and relational databases.
• Three plus years using Git version control and CI/CD pipelines.
• Three plus years in Test Automation (unit & integration).
• Three plus years of AI-assisted development and knowledge transfer to teams.
• One plus year of public sector experience.
• Native-level Dutch and French with active English knowledge.

Responsabilités

• Debug and resolve performance issues to ensure continuous system reliability.

Our client, a prominent federal organization within the public sector, is undertaking a major digital transformation to enhance social security services. The project involves building high-quality software within an agile environment while integrating AI-assisted development workflows to evolve digital products.

Responsibilities

• Contribute actively to code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and the application of development best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers and architects in an agile framework to translate technical designs into concrete implementations.
• Debug and resolve performance issues in existing applications to ensure continuous system reliability.
• Lead the integration of AI tools into daily development workflows and facilitate AI knowledge transfer across the team.
• Maintain technical documentation for developed components and participate in all agile sprint ceremonies.

Requirements

• You have 8+ years of experience working with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
• You possess 8+ years of expertise in REST API development.
• You bring 3+ years of experience in backend development using .NET and C#.
• You have 3+ years of experience working with Azure cloud platforms.
• You possess 3+ years of experience with SQL and relational databases.
• You bring 3+ years of experience using Git version control and CI/CD pipelines.
• You have 3+ years of experience in Test Automation, including unit and integration testing.
• You possess 3+ years of experience with AI-assisted development and transferring AI knowledge to technical teams.
• You have 1+ years of experience working within the public sector.
• You are native in Dutch and French with active knowledge of English.

Nice to Haves

• Willingness to work onsite in Brussels at least twice per week.
