Senior Mechanical AIT Engineer
Location: Luxembourg
About the Role

As a Senior AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Test) Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all AIT activities for complex spaceflight hardware ensuring hardware is integrated, verified, and delivered on schedule and to flight standards.

The role requires a strong mechanical engineering background, complemented by working‑level knowledge of electrical systems and software regression testing, enabling effective coordination of multidisciplinary AIT activities. You will act as the technical integrator between mechanical, electrical, and software teams, ensuring coherent execution of integration, test, and verification activities.

You will contribute to the definition, design, and production of Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) required to safely integrate, handle, and test flight hardware.

Main Functions
  • Focal point for AIT activities and workflows
  • Strong experience in environmental campaigns (preparation, execution and reporting), acting as main PoC towards testing facilities
  • Strong mechanical background with knowledge of electrical and software regression/functional testing
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate all AIT activities for system, subsystems, or payload level
  • Serve as the primary AIT interface between design engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program management
  • Own the mechanical integration strategy, including alignment, fastening, torquing, handling, and cleanliness control
  • Coordinate electrical integration and software regression testing activities in close collaboration with electrical and software engineers, ensuring test readiness, sequencing, and coverage
  • Plan, prepare, and execute environmental test campaigns, including vibration, shock, thermal vacuum (TVAC), and functional testing
  • Define and maintain AIT workflows, build sequences, integration plans, and test plans, covering mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines
  • Coordinate production and readiness of parts, tooling, MGSE, EGSE, and test equipment to support AIT schedules
  • Contribute to the design, procurement, and validation of MGSE, including handling fixtures, alignment tools, transport frames, and test supports
  • Generate and maintain AIT documentation
  • Manage AIT schedules
  • Support risk management by identifying AIT risks and proposing mitigation measures
  • Provide on‑floor technical leadership during integration and testing
  • Lead anomaly resolution and coordinate with PA lead, performing root cause analysis across mechanical, electrical, and software domains
  • Participate in design reviews with a focus on AIT needs and how this may inform the detailed design of mechanical systems and components
  • Coordinate with logistics partners to ensure that transportation of ispace platform to and from testing and integration facilities happens as planned
  • Mentor and technically guide junior AIT engineers and technicians
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 5–10 years of experience in spacecraft, satellite, or high‑reliability system AIT
  • Strong experience preparing and executing environmental test campaigns (vibration, TVAC, shock)
  • Proven ability to plan and coordinate AIT activities across multiple disciplines
  • Hands‑on experience with integration, test execution, and troubleshooting of complex hardware
  • Solid understanding of spacecraft subsystems and their AIT constraints
  • Experience with AIT documentation, configuration control, and non‑conformance management
  • Ability to drive execution in a schedule‑driven, high‑stakes environment
  • Strong communication and coordination skills in English
