LUCA School of Arts in Belgium seeks a senior lecturer (docent) with a strong record in artistic research and teaching. The role is 100% indeterminate, with a tenure pathway and connection to KU Leuven as a special guest lecturer for five years.

Qualifications

• You have a doctorate.
• You have extensive experience leading artistic research.
• Your research is internationally published and you have experience in applying for external research funding.
• You have an established artistic practice that is context-bound and embodied, and includes performative, collaborative or participatory methods and time-based outcomes.
• You ... reflect on dominant Western frameworks while drawing on diverse traditions.
• You have a broad international network.
• You bring perspectives that can activate diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• You have social and educational skills, you are collegial and communicative, and motivated to continuously develop your expertise.
• You act respectfully and with integrity, and value diversity.
• You are able to teach in Dutch (C1) or English (B1). If necessary, you will develop skills; B2 within five years.
• You are willing to relocate to Belgium; Brussels is the base.
• You are loyal and endorse LUCA’s mission, vision and policy.

Responsabilités

• Lead and supervise a research group of PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers.
• Work with colleagues to divide time 50% research and 50% teaching.
• Disseminate research outcomes through artistic presentations, performances, publications and other platforms.
• Generate international research output and attract external funding.
• Design and deliver teaching for the Fine Arts program; supervise and evaluate students.
• Contribute to program quality and be an ambassador for LUCA with students and alumni.
• Engage in seminars, symposia and collaborative initiatives; participate in international networking.
• Develop teaching activities that address diverse perspectives including non-Western, Indigenous and marginalized voices.
• Take on leadership roles within LUCA as needed.
• Promote respect, integrity, sustainability and diversity in the workplace.
