Sphere Defense in Brussels, Belgium, is seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for autonomous countermeasures. You will work closely with hardware, bring up boards, and implement reliable, low-latency sensing and actuation software.

The role emphasizes ownership, CI/CD, and collaboration in a high-ambiguity environment, with opportunities for mentoring and growth within a fast-growing defense technology startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics or equivalent
• At least 4 years in relevant role with increasing ownership
• Experience with MCUs/MPUs running bare-metal and RTOS
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python
• Experience with Device Drivers development and Board Bringup
• Experience with lab equipment for bring-up and debug
• Experience with SIL/HIL CI/CD processes

Responsabilités

• Design, develop and test firmware for autonomous countermeasures with low latency
• Collaborate with hardware team to bring up boards and systems
• Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise
• Establish CI/CD pipelines with QA focus
• Be a team player and mentor teammates
• Contribute to high-performing firmware team and processes
