Job summary

Pauwels Consulting seeks a Senior Data Governance Expert to drive transformation in the data office. You will implement governance frameworks, coach stewards, and lead data quality initiatives to support public policies.

You will define roles, coordinate glossaries and catalogs, and advance data literacy across the organization while ensuring GDPR compliance and strong communication with stakeholders. Hybrid work in Brussels is offered.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Data Governance and Data Quality Management.
• 5+ years of experience with Metadata Management, Business Glossaries, and Data Governance Tools.
• 3+ years of experience in Master Data Management (MDM) and Project Management.
• 3+ years of experience in Change Management to drive data culture and literacy.
• 3+ years of experience with SQL.
• Master’s degree in Information Technology, Economics, Management, or a related field.
• Experience implementing and managing a Data Catalog.
• Solid understanding of GDPR regulations and their application to data management.
• Proactive and solution-oriented with excellent communication skills.
• Native in Dutch or French with active knowledge of English and the other national language.

Responsibilities

• Define roles and responsibilities for data stewards and data owners with coaching.
• Lead and animate the data stewardship community with meetings and action tracking.
• Coordinate population and maintenance of business glossary and data catalog for metadata quality.
• Initiate and oversee data quality improvement projects with rule definition and reporting.
• Contribute to development of data governance policies, guidelines, and standards.
• Support data literacy programs by selecting training materials and monitoring maturity.
