Job summary

HumanInTech is seeking an experienced Data Platform Engineer to drive the evolution of a Belgian public transport data platform. You will design and implement Azure-based data pipelines, Lakehouse architectures, and Unity Catalog governance as part of a 12-month, hybrid Brussels project.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on Azure Databricks and data architecture experience, strong SQL/Python skills, and the ability to collaborate with analysts and data scientists.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Proven experience with Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, and Azure data architecture
• Analytical mindset, autonomy, problem-solving skills, and team spirit
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly

Responsibilities

• Design and develop data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and other Azure services
• Implement modern data architectures including Data Lake, Delta Lake, and Lakehouse
• Develop and industrialise new business use cases to support reporting, analytics, and data science
• Contribute to Databricks Unity Catalog setup, access management, security, and governance
• Support self-service data strategy implementation
• Monitor and optimise Azure and Databricks performance, resource usage and costs
• Automate data ingestion, transformation and deployment processes
• Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders
• Document data flows, architecture, and best practices
• Maintain and improve the Azure data platform
