NISH Tech BV is seeking a Senior AI Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy enterprise AI applications for a major European energy partner. You will build backend services, optimize retrieval pipelines, and integrate LLMs and AI orchestration frameworks to deliver reliable workflows.

Requirements include 5+ years as a software engineer, 1–2 years with LLMs, strong Python skills, and professionalism in English plus French or Dutch.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, preferably backend or full-stack.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience integrating LLMs or Generative AI into software applications.
• Strong programming experience with Python.
• Hands-on experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Experience with embeddings, vector search, hybrid search, metadata filtering, and reranking.
• Experience with MCP, A2A, tool calling, or multi-agent workflows.
• Experience designing maintainable backend services with proper testing, logging, CI/CD, and deployment practices.
• Understanding of AI evaluation techniques, including test datasets, quality metrics, regression testing, and user feedback.
• Experience developing cloud-native applications.
• Security-conscious approach when working with enterprise or sensitive data.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical trade-offs.
• Ability to determine when AI, RAG, or agentic workflows are appropriate versus deterministic solutions.
• Professional proficiency in English.
• Professional working proficiency in French or Dutch.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Belgium.

Responsabilités

• Design safe AI patterns including tool calling, human-in-the-loop approvals, and agentic behaviors.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to deliver AI solutions.
• Evaluate models and AI frameworks based on quality, latency, cost, maintainability, and security.
• Troubleshoot AI-related issues such as hallucinations, poor retrieval quality, latency, unreliable outputs, and cost optimization.
• Ensure AI applications are production-ready, secure, scalable, and maintainable.

We are currently hiring a Senior AI Software Engineer (LLMs, RAG & Agentic AI) to join one of the largest energy transmission companies in Europe. This role offers the opportunity to design, develop, and deploy enterprise-grade AI applications powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI Agents, and modern cloud-native technologies, contributing to innovative digital transformation initiatives within a critical energy infrastructure environment.

Key Responsibilities:
