Starion is seeking a Security Engineer Expert to join the Nexova team in Redu, Belgium, helping to strengthen cyber resilience for Europe. You will design, develop, and manage advanced cyber-security services and complex solutions for the ESA’s C-SOC system, working with state‑of‑the‑art technologies in cyber-security and space domains.

You will engage in architecture design, certification, and operational delivery, with a focus on automation, PKI, IAM/PAM, and secure Unix/Linux environments.

Qualifications

• University degree in computer science, engineering, IT or related field.
• Senior‑level experience in systems administration/engineering or network security in an international context.
• Experience in complex systems engineering: security architecture design, certification/validation, cyber risk analysis, IT/OT security.
• Hands‑on scripting with Ansible, Bash, Python, PowerShell.
• Strong PKI, certificate lifecycle management, IAM/PAM experience.
• Proficiency in Unix/Linux systems and virtualization.
• Ability to read and troubleshoot complex network infrastructures.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity operations, CTI, IT/OT security policies.
• Familiarity with ISO27000, NIST CSF, ISA62443, Common Criteria, FIPS.
• Certifications CASP+/CISSP/RHCA/RHCE/MCSE/MCSA.
• Eligible for ESA and EU secret clearance.

Join us as a Security Engineer Expert. This position will be based in Redu, Belgium, and will be part of the Nexova engineering team working on C-SOC system for the European Space Agency’s (ESA).

As a Security Engineer Expert, you will be involved in the design, development, improvement and management of our advanced cyber-security services, as well as in the delivery of complex cyber-security solutions.

Tasks and Activities

The scope of work will include:

• Monitoring and managing project execution to ensure timely delivery, scope adherence, and consistent operational quality.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of system performance, operational efficiency, and service delivery processes.
• Deploying, maintaining, and operating up to classified systems in line with security, operational, and documentation standards.

  The following skills and experience are requested:

  • University degree or equivalent experience in computer science, engineering, IT, or a related field.
  • Proven senior‑level experience in systems administration/engineering or network security, preferably in an international context.
  • Experience in complex systems engineering, including security architecture design, certification and validation, cyber risk analysis, and IT/OT security.
  • Hands‑on experience with scripting and automation using Ansible, Bash, Python, and PowerShell.
  • Strong background in PKI, certificate lifecycle management, and IAM/PAM.
  • Excellent capability in managing Unix/Linux‑based systems and virtualisation environments.
  • Capacity to read, understand and troubleshoot complex network infrastructures.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity operations, including CTI, information security policies, and IT/OT security.
  • Good comprehension of best practices and standards like: ISO27000, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISA62443, Common Criteria, FIPS.
  • A professional qualification or certification such as CASP+/CISSP/RHCA/RHCE/MCSE/MCSA.
  • Eligible to undergo the ESA and EU secret security clearance procedures.
