BES is looking for a new engineer to join its team in the automotive sector in Brussels!
As part of an innovative project in Robotics, Perception and Artificial Intelligence with a major player in the automotive industry, we are looking for a Robotics Perception Engineer to contribute to the development and integration of advanced perception and AI solutions for robotic applications.
You will join an international R&D environment, working on cutting-edge Proof-of-Concept projects at the intersection of academic research and real-world industrial applications.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Evaluate, package and test perception algorithms for robotics applications.
- Benchmark state-of-the-art perception and AI algorithms using TME data and real-world use cases.
- Improve, adapt and integrate component algorithms into end-to-end perception pipelines.
- Prepare and manage software releases for technical handovers and PoC trials.
- Port and optimize algorithms for embedded platforms used in robotic applications.
- Contribute to the integration and adaptation of foundation models and language models into in-house robotics pipelines.
- Support technology transfer activities, bringing research prototypes towards robust and demonstrable PoC solutions.
- Participate in on-site deployments, testing and follow-up of PoCs when required.
- Monitor project progress and prepare technical reports and status updates.
- Contribute to scientific publications and patent applications resulting from the research activities.
Your Profile:
- PhD in Robotics, Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Strong experience in robotics perception and AI algorithms.
- Hands-on experience with ROS / ROS2 and robotic software architectures.
- Solid knowledge of Computer Vision, Deep Learning and/or Machine Learning.
- Experience developing and integrating algorithms into software pipelines.
- Good programming skills in C++ and/or Python.
- Experience with embedded platforms and algorithm deployment is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with foundation models, Large Language Models (LLMs) or multimodal AI is an advantage.
- Experience with benchmarking, experimentation and working with real-world datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to move from research concepts to practical PoC implementations.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in an international, multidisciplinary R&D environment.
- Experience with scientific publications and/or patents is a plus.
