Job description

Imagine a future where drones can fly everywhere, at any time, and do so safely. At Unifly, a global leader in Drone Traffic Management, we create the technology and services that make this possible. Join us and use your expertise to help shape the systems, research and decisions behind the next generation of drone operations.

We are currently seeking an R&D Analyst based in Belgium.

As an R&D Analyst, you are part of the product team and contribute to analysis across product activities. You investigate user and business needs, define use cases and requirements, and support product and architecture decisions. Your main focus is Unifly’s R&D projects, where you maintain an overview across activities, systems and stakeholders. You translate project objectives and findings into clear project deliverables, documented conclusions and reusable knowledge. Where relevant, you assess how the results could inform future product decisions or engineering activities.

You work closely with product managers, project managers, engineers and external project partners. You gather and structure information, clarify scope, identify gaps and dependencies, document decisions, define how results will be validated and analyse the outcomes. You ensure that R&D objectives are translated into clear requirements, use cases, architecture input and validation criteria, taking into account the capabilities and constraints of the Unifly platform.

Responsibilities
  • Analyse project objectives, stakeholder needs and operational use cases.
  • Translate these into research questions, requirements, system models, architecture input and validation criteria.
  • Assess how new concepts could fit within the Unifly platform and identify gaps, constraints and dependencies.
  • Maintain a system-level overview across R&D projects.
  • Research relevant technologies, operational concepts and regulatory developments.
  • Define scenarios and validation criteria and analyse test and demonstration results.
  • Prepare and co-author project deliverables and consolidate contributions from internal teams and external partners.
  • Document conclusions, decisions, open questions, risks and reusable knowledge.
  • Present findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Your Profile
Technical Skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, computer science, aviation, complex systems engineering or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in business, systems, product or technical analysis, gained through professional work or doctoral research.
  • Experience translating stakeholder needs into use cases, requirements and validation criteria.
  • Understanding of software platforms, interfaces, data flows and system integration.
  • Experience preparing technical reports or project deliverables.
  • Knowledge of aviation, drones, UTM or autonomous systems is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical thinking and practical problem-solving skills.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to maintain a broad, system-level perspective.
  • A curious and critical mindset.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage priorities across multiple projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and areas of expertise.
