Aerospacelab in Belgium is seeking a Regulatory and Institutional Affairs professional to own the national authorisations for missions and to shape market access across Belgium, France, the US and other jurisdictions. You will work with legal, programme and business development teams and engage with regulators and industry associations.

You will monitor EU and national regulatory developments, draft position papers, and lead advocacy with policymakers to align with Aerospacelab priorities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in law, ideally space, telecommunications or EU law.
• 3+ years of experience in regulatory and / or institutional affairs in the space or telecom sector.
• Working knowledge of satellite licensing and market access processes.
• Excellent drafting skills in English, professional capacity in French
• Autonomy across legal, engineering and business teams

Responsabilités

• Own and maintain the national authorisations behind our missions: operator licences, registration and insurance obligations under the Belgian space law, and equivalent regimes in France, the US and other jurisdictions.
• Build market access intelligence: monitor landing rights, earth station and service authorisation regimes in target markets; handle matters within consortia; support ITU filings.
• Advise programmes, bids and contracts on space law and regulatory frameworks: liability and registration, effective control, data distribution rules, licensing schedules and clauses.
• Monitor evolving regulatory landscape (EU Space Act, Digital Networks Act, European Competitiveness Fund, space traffic management, cybersecurity).
• Lead legislative and policy files: track cycle, draft position papers, amendments, briefings for management.
• Represent Aerospacelab in industry associations and with regulators and institutions (BELSPO, ESA, EC, EUSPA).
• Advocate towards Belgian, French and EU policymakers; map decision-makers and organize coalitions.
• Shape legislation and funding instruments in Aerospacelab's interest (EU Space Act, IRIS², ESA Ministerial cycles).
• Support institutional business development with regulatory input to bids and customer discussions.
• Prepare senior management for institutional meetings and ministerial cycles; follow up on actions.

Role overview

As Aerospacelab scales its missions and institutional business, this role owns the regulatory and institutional layer that keeps them flying and funded. Half of the job is regulatory: authorisations, market access and space law across the jurisdictions where we and our customers operate. The other half is institutional: shaping the rules being written in Brussels and representing Aerospacelab with regulators, institutions and industry associations.

You will work daily with the legal, programme and business development teams, and interact directly with senior management.

Duties

• Own and maintain the national authorisations behind our missions: operator licences, registration and insurance obligations under the Belgian space law, and equivalent regimes in France, the US and the other jurisdictions where Aerospacelab or its customers operate
• Build market access intelligence: monitor and analyse landing rights, earth station and service authorisation regimes in target markets, and handle market access matters within consortiums with partners and customers; provide support on ITU filings and the surrounding regulatory framework
• Advise programmes, bids and contracts on space law and national regulatory frameworks: liability and registration, effective control, data distribution rules, licensing schedules and compliance clauses
• Monitor the evolving regulatory landscape (EU Space Act, Digital Networks Act, European Competitiveness Fund, space traffic management and debris mitigation, cybersecurity) and turn it into concrete, dated requirements for programme and engineering teams
• Take the lead on the legislative and policy files assigned to you: track the legislative cycle, draft position papers, amendment proposals and consultation responses, and prepare briefing notes and talking points for management
• Represent Aerospacelab in industry associations and working groups (ASD-Eurospace, CSSMA, GSOA…) and build working relationships with regulators and institutions: BELSPO, BIPT, Belgian MoD, ESA, the European Commission, EUSPA and national delegations
• Conduct direct advocacy towards Belgian, French and EU policymakers: map decision-makers, build relationships with cabinets, ministries, Commission services and Parliament, and organise coalitions with industry peers
• Shape legislation and funding instruments in Aerospacelab's interest (EU Space Act, IRIS², European Competitiveness Fund, ESA Ministerial cycles), in compliance with EU and national transparency register obligations
• Support institutional business development with regulatory input to bids and customer discussions, letter-of-support requests and delegation engagement alongside the business development team
• Prepare senior management for institutional meetings, delegation visits, programme boards and Ministerial cycles, and follow up on what was agreed

Must have
