Jan De Nul Group is seeking a Quality Engineer to monitor quality on offshore projects from its office in Aalst, Belgium. You will manage quality matters, evaluate execution techniques and assist in supplier selection while ensuring compliance with our QHSSE system and local legislation.

You will drive SMART objectives, prepare quality documents, conduct trainings and audits, and report on performance. Willingness to travel, team-player mindset, and English proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a technical or science discipline (construction or mechanics).
  • Fluent English; additional languages a plus.

Responsabilités

  • Manage all Quality matters on your project (Cables or Renewables) from the Belgium office in Aalst.
  • Balance quality, cost and timeframe while complying with the Management System, client requirements and local legislation.
  • Evaluate execution techniques from a Quality point of view to select appropriate equipment with project engineers.
  • Assess potential suppliers and subcontractors and assist in their selection.
  • Define SMART objectives and prepare project-specific Quality documents (plan, ITP).
  • Provide hands-on support during execution; conduct trainings, audits and inspections; identify non-conformities and propose improvements.
  • Report to Project Management on performance and the need to improve the Quality Management System, and defend recommendations to the team, partners and client.

About the role

As a Quality Engineer you play a key role in monitoring Quality at our Offshore Projects Worldwide. You work within the central QHSSE department from our office in Belgium.

What you’ll do

As a Quality Advisor / Engineer and key team member, you will manage all Quality matters on your project (Cables or Renewables) from our office in Belgium (Aalst).

  • You continuously strive to keep the balance between quality, cost and timeframe, while preserving the compliance with our Jan De Nul Group Management System, client requirements and (local) legislation.
  • Evaluate the various execution techniques from a Quality point of view in order to help selecting the most appropriate equipment in collaboration with the Project Engineers and specialised in-house departments.
  • Assess potential suppliers and subcontractors and assist in their selection.
  • Evaluate the risks and define SMART objectives for your project.
  • Prepare project specific Quality documents (project execution plan, inspection and test plan) and provide hands-on support to the project team during their implementation in execution phase.
  • Execute trainings, audits and inspections, identify Non-Conformities and propose Opportunities for Improvement.
  • Report to the Project Management team on the performance and the need to improve the Quality Management System on your project. Explain and defend your recommendations towards your project team, (joint venture) partners and the client.

What do you need to have

You hold a Master's degree in a technical or science discipline (construction or mechanics). Knowledge of the English language is a must, additional language skills are a plus.

You are result-driven, have a proactive nature and the ability to prioritise and plan effectively in order to meet specific deadlines, along with a confident, meticulous and professional attitude. These are essential character traits for this position.

You like to work in a team. As we work on different continents, with different nationalities and religions, willingness to travel and being open minded are also core requirements. You preferably have experience in successfully working with different clients and teams.

You like to combine time spent in the field with reporting and follow-up. You have a practical and hands-on approach and continuously try to communicate, coach and guide people.

You have a problem-solving mind-set and a strong sense of self-initiative in order to improve the working culture and deliver the projects with a high quality standard on time and within budget.

You will work in our office in Belgium (Aalst).
