The QHSSE Department monitors the policy as regards Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environment. On civil as well as dredging, environmental and offshore projects all over the world, they support the people in charge with the implementation, the control and the improvement of the QHSSE Management System. Because our people are our greatest capital! Meet Bram, safety advisor on our international maritime and offshore projects.

Your Role

You start with four weeks training: experts who came before you will teach you everything there is to know. And you will get to practice in one of our virtual simulators. Next, you will travel to the project where we need you the most. This could be anywhere in the world. In this role, you manage quality, health, safety, security and environmental matters in prequalification, tender and early start‑up stage for different dredging projects. You strive to balance between compliance with our Jan De Nul Group management systems, client requirements and (local) legislation.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the QHSSE risks related to your project, and assist the Project Manager in achieving SMART objectives. Prepare and chair internal and external risk workshops.
  • Prepare project specific documents (QHSSE implementation plan, emergency response plan, inspection and test plan) and support the project team during the execution phase.
  • Provide and facilitate QHSSE trainings, explain and promote our Jan De Nul Group integrated management system ITA philosophy to the client and subcontractors.
  • Improve and promote the Jan De Nul Group management system based on your experience and feedback from your projects.
  • Facilitate and conduct QHSSE audits and inspections to assess potential suppliers and subcontractors and assist in their selection.
Work Regime

As an expat on one of our global projects, you will work within a different work regime. This usually includes two months of 12‑hour work days, six days a week, followed by one month off. This work regime may vary depending on the project. It is demanding work, but you will gain a wealth of knowledge and experience and during your month off you are free to live life your way.

Qualifications
  • You preferably hold a Master's degree in a technical or science discipline in combination with a Master in prevention management or Environmental engineering. Knowledge of the English language is a must, additional language skills are a plus.
  • You are result‑driven, have a proactive nature and the ability to prioritise and plan effectively to meet specific deadlines, along with a confident and professional attitude. These are essential character traits for this position.
  • You like to work in a team. As we work on different continents, with different nationalities and religions, willingness to travel and being open minded are also core requirements.
  • You like to combine time spent in the field with reporting and follow‑up. You have a practical and hands‑on approach and continuously try to communicate, coach and guide people.
  • You have the ability to assess others and the skill to convince them of Jan De Nul Group’s QHSSE vision.
  • You have a problem‑solving mindset and a strong sense of self‑initiative in order to improve the working culture and deliver the projects with a high quality standard on time and within budget.
  • You will be working in a rotation system 2 months on, 1 month off.
