Astek is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Belgium team in a hybrid setup in Waterloo. You will support quality assurance activities across manufacturing and engineering processes, ensuring products and processes meet internal standards, customer requirements and applicable regulations.

The role demands 3–5 years in QA/Quality Engineering, strong problem-solving, and fluent French and English. Collaboration with cross-functional and international teams is central to success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in engineering, sciences, or a related field.
• 3–5 years in QA/Quality Engineering in regulated settings.
• Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001, 21 CFR.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced QA Engineer to join a dynamic quality team based in Waterloo, Belgium, working in a hybrid setup combining homeworking and onsite presence. The ideal candidate will support quality assurance activities across manufacturing and engineering processes, ensuring products and processes consistently meet internal standards, customer requirements and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance of manufacturing and engineering processes with quality standards and regulatory requirements
• Support the investigation, CAPA, root-cause analysis and closure of deviations and non-conformances
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production and quality processes
• Participate in internal and external audits, and support preparation of audit readiness
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Engineering, R&D, Regulatory) to embed quality by design

Main Activities

• Review and approve manufacturing documentation, protocols and reports (SOPs, batch records, work instructions)
• QA Oversight / Gemba/ GMP guidelines adherence overview
• Lead or support CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) processes from initiation to effectiveness check
• Perform risk assessments and support qualification/validation activities (URS/IQ/OQ/PQ) as needed
• Monitor quality KPIs and prepare periodic quality review reports
• Support supplier and internal process audits, including follow-up on corrective actions
• Manufacturing equipment or system validation
• Contribute to training of operational staff on quality procedures and best practices

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering, Sciences, or a related technical field
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering role, ideally in an industrial or regulated environment
• Good knowledge of quality systems and standards (e.g. GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001, 21 CFR or equivalent depending on sector)
• Experience with deviation management, CAPA, and root-cause analysis methodologies
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and a structured, methodical approach
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with cross-functional and international teams
• Fluent in French and English
• Comfortable working in a hybrid environment, combining homeworking and onsite presence to customer plant
