Atlas Copco invites a technically minded project leader to join our Centrifugal Compressor team in a hybrid role at our Wilrijk site. You will lead cross-disciplinary projects, align experts across regions and steer complex engineering challenges toward sustainable compressor solutions.

You will work with a diverse group of engineers, managers and researchers, driving technical trade-offs, governance and risk management while fostering collaboration and customer value.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience leading technical projects in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
• Ability to understand complex technical concepts and facilitate engineering decision-making.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Pragmatic, result-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively in situations with uncertainty.
• Ability to build trust and collaboration across teams, functions and cultures.
• Strong team player with a collaborative leadership style.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch is considered an advantage.

Your role

Are you a technically minded project leader who can connect experts, align international teams and turn complex engineering challenges into successful products? Join our Centrifugal Compressor team and help shape the next generation of sustainable compressor technology. Our experienced team develops centrifugal compressors that are used worldwide. We pride ourselves on delivering some of the most energy-efficient compressor solutions on the market. With rated powers of up to 6300 kW per compressor, even small improvements can have a significant impact on energy consumption and sustainability. Besides product development, we continuously invest in research and technology development to remain at the forefront of our industry. Our projects range from clean-sheet product development to upgrades of existing products and disruptive innovations in collaboration with universities, research institutes and industrial partners. We are passionate about technology and continuously push boundaries through advanced engineering methods, multidisciplinary optimization and close collaboration across departments and regions. You will be responsible for both product development and technology development projects, bringing together experts from different disciplines, departments and international locations. You will create alignment around common objectives and help multidisciplinary teams move projects forward successfully. You combine a solid technical understanding with strong leadership skills. While you are not expected to be the deepest technical specialist in every domain, you can understand technical challenges, challenge proposals when needed, facilitate technical trade-offs and help teams make well-founded decisions. You also maintain an overview of the complete project scope, planning, budget and risks, while ensuring that critical details receive the necessary attention. You proactively identify obstacles, manage uncertainties and help the team navigate demanding situations with confidence and pragmatism. You lead through influence rather than hierarchy. By building trust and fostering collaboration, you create momentum within multidisciplinary project teams and enable experts to perform at their best. You listen to different stakeholder perspectives, bridge competing interests and help establish consensus in a constructive manner. You are comfortable communicating with all levels of the organization. You can present complex topics concisely to project teams, stakeholders and divisional management, using strong presentation skills and high-quality communication materials. As an ambassador for our products and technologies, you understand our customers’ challenges and keep customer value at the center of your decision making. Job location

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our site in Wilrijk.
