Product Software Engineer — End-to-End Backend, AI-Driven

Job summary

Be-Mobile, a European leader in smart mobility solutions, Ghent-based, is seeking an experienced Product Software Engineer who takes end-to-end ownership of software solutions—from problem understanding to deployment and production follow-up.

You will collaborate with Product to translate real-world needs into robust software, decide on architectural approaches, and drive high-quality results while maintaining alignment with engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering experience, with a solid backend foundation
• Proven experience independently designing, building, deploying and operating production software
• A good understanding of modern SaaS applications and concepts such as authentication, authorization, API design, distributed systems and multi-tenancy
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, containerization and automated deployments
• The ability to reason about architecture and technical trade-offs
• A strong sense of ownership and impact orientation
• A product mindset: solving the right problem, not just implementing a feature
• Ability to explain technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Familiarity with Golang, Vue.js, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Elasticsearch
• Curiosity about how AI is changing software engineering and applying it to improve practices
• Fluent in Dutch, with a good command of English

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of product features and solutions, from analysis and technical design to implementation, deployment and production follow-up
• Own a product domain and act as the technical point of reference for it
• Build and maintain software across the stack with a backend focus while contributing to frontend development
• Translate product and business needs into practical, scalable and maintainable technical solutions
• Work closely with Product Owners as a technical counterpart and balance value, complexity and sustainability
• Challenge requirements and seek simpler or better solutions
• Build software designed to run reliably in production and take responsibility after deployment
• Contribute to engineering practices around architecture, testing, CI/CD, deployment and reliability
• Use modern development tools, including AI-assisted development, to improve productivity and quality
• Share knowledge and raise the technical level of the team
